We have given this place a few visits, hoping they will get it right eventually. The restaurant has everything going for it, location, funk, style... But it is a restaurant after all and we need good food and service. Can't go back.

“Needs improvement”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2014 via mobile

We decided to have lunch here on Good Friday because the menu looked good and not too overpriced. It was packed but there was no manager controlling seating and when we asked a waitress who walked past us if there is an open table she said "you never know, just keep your eyes open or come back in 15". So we gave it 5 min, came back and had to hover around a dirty table to make sure we got the table and while there we saw lots of other confused people trying to figure out how to get a table. Fresh fruit juice was delicious and I like that you can choose your fruit. We were looking forward to the food, I ordered chicken and corn quesadillas, which had potential to be delicious but unfortunately the chicken was dry and bland so I had to add lots of salt, which is tricky when the chicken is in a quesadilla. My husband had the chilli dog, which he said was nice but it was more of a kids size, not as gourmet as the description made it sound. He luckily ordered chips on the side and even with chips he was still hungry. No one checked on us once to see if we were happy with our food and when we went to pay they didn't even know which table we were at until they asked someone else. Maybe better when it's not so busy, so will go back again on a quieter day.

“Brilliant breakfasts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

The fact that we returned to Sails for a further two visits after our initial foray tells you how much we enjoyed this cafe.
Service was definitely with a smile as well as being informative. Try anything with eggs, poached or fried and you won't go wrong. An addition of the roasted tomatoes is well worth while. The Eggs Benedict were a generous serve with plenty of good ham. The only minor quibble was that the muesli could have done with an extra couple of dollops of yoghurt. If you want to feel slightly more virtuous go for the Super Green juice, the zing of ginger makes this healthy alternative a must.
Both tea and coffee are very good, the coffee in particular is smooth.
Next time we'll give lunch a try.

“Simply Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014 via mobile

Came down here a couple of days ago to get away from "the
Big smoke" and ended up scrambling into this cute little cafe up on the main strip after it poured with rain, great little area to sit outside under the porch, so we sat and had some lunch, and enjoyed some wine we brought from a nearby winery(no corkage fee) woo hoo , the food was delicious tasty and fresh! Service was friendly too!

“A terrible experience!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

The staff were not interested at all. We waited quite a few minutes to be seated and given a menu, during which time staff were walking past us and we were witnessing other customers complain about their meals (I should have trusted my instincts and found another place to eat at that point). When we were finally seated, the wait staff just plonked the menus in front of us and walked off, without welcoming us or offering any assistance. We ordered our meals, which included a chocolate milkshake. This milkshake was a white colour (as opposed to brown for chocolate) and tasted foul! We politely told the wait staff that we had ordered a chocolate milkshake and that this milkshale neither looked chocolate or tasted. The wait staff replied telling us if we stirred the milkshake we can see the brown colour at the bottom (Do we get a discount for mixing our own milkshakes?). We told the wait staff we no longer wanted the milkshake as it wasn't suitable. Finally, when we finished our meals and went to pay, I had to tell the cashier staff that we didn't have the milkshake as the wait staff had not passed the message on!
