“The good the bad and the ugly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

I read a number of the reviews and some people loved it and others didn't. Why? I don't know. So this view will hopefully help you now that I've stayed there. I stayed in July 2012 for 4 nights in a two bedroom two bathroom (2 spa) townhouse.
My conclusion is here! Yes I would definelty stay here again.

Now..... The units are adequately furnished, decorated and fitted out. That's it! Don't expect 5 star expect good 3 star. The dining table, lounge suite, TV unit, coffee table are all VERY basic. I enjoy cooking and the kitchen is VERY poorly appointed. Don't expect to be able to cut anything from the knife set supplied. I wanted to prepare a number of meals (you don't always feel like going out or dinner after a day of visiting wineries) but really only had basic equipment. The quality of the construction is very basic. A very basic specification (I know I'm a builder). The toilet suite, the hand basin, the door handles.

The upstairs is timber framed construction so in the morning if you come down the timber stairs you wake everyone up because the stairs groan.

Winge winge winge.... Sorry I'm just trying to tell it as it is (remember I said I'd stay here again?)

The positive? The location as far as Margret River is concerned is the best. You can walk to everything in town. We had a townhouse looking over natural bush, great! The staff? Great! Overall the quality if the fit tout is adequate.

Overall presentation was pretty good.

Room Tip: Book a room away from the highway and if possible request a room/townhouse overlooking the natural b...

Thank you for your candid, to the point review. I am sure many will find it helpful and there is nothing so refreshing as a good honest opinion. I am also pleased that you will be returning to the property and I am already looking forward to your review next time (the good, the great and the excellent?) I take it as a challenge on myself to inspire you to write about us in those terms. Warm regards, Astrid & the team at Margarets Forest

Having stayed at a number of places in Margaret River over the past two years my husband and I tried Margaret's Forest on this visit and we were very impressed.
We took my parents for a few days and selected a 2 bed unit.
Firstly, the booking was made by phone and the receptionist was ever so helpful and friendly and then again upon check in....excellent service.
The location is just beautiful nestled in against the forest and the grounds are immaculate. It is situated on the main road on the edge of the township so it was easy to wander up through the township during the day and out for dinner.
Even though we were located in a unit facing the main road there was very little noise in the bedroom that faced the road.
We were very surprised by the spaciousness of the units. We had 2 x king bedrooms, bathroom and toilet downstairs and large open plan lounge, kitchen, dining, laundry and toilet upstairs.
There really was everything we needed. The place was spotless and that is really important to me.
The aircon heated the entire upstairs living area and although it was very cold downstairs the electric blankets were just lovely.
The aircon unit was situated on the balcony just above our bedroom and because we left it on automatic thermostat on the first night to keep the chill off the unit, it shut down and started up, off and on throughout the night, which was a little noisy. Easy fixed...just turned it off the next night and had a perfect sleep and also saved power.
I just can't fault this place. Lovely to receive a copy of the Sunday Times as well.
We had our best stay ever in Margaret River.

I stayed here for 2 nights: location is good:can walk through margaret river town from here. The apartment is spacious, but not a whole lot of natural light getting into the place. Furniture and cooking utensils average.

Dear Traveller, I'm sorry we didn't impress you this visit and appreciate your view on the basic kitchen utensils, which we will certainly take into consideration with any refurbishment in future. We look forward to more glowing reviews , as we continue to make improvements to the property for a fresh, welcoming look every time. We stayed for 3 nights in June, with only a small discount via Hotel Club. The two storey, 2 bedroom flats are spacious, clean and quite well appointed. There's a reasonable stove, a stereo and wifi from Hot Spot. It was very cold, & the electric blankets really helped; the heating upstairs warmed the main room well, though the upstairs laundry & toilet, as well as all of the downstairs, were very cold. Just off the highway, but not at all noisy; this is a great location. The staff I met were friendly and helpful. I couldn't find the recycling bins - only minus.

Room Tip: All rooms are great with close by parking, wifi and nearby restaurants.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 1 spa apartment, and we were impressed! Firstly with their winter special of half price rooms with 4 or more night bookings (book thru their website). Clean and modern, spacious, and a well equipped kitchen. Beautiful soft sheets on beds. Minor problem was noise of air con and for the original price of rooms there really should be air con upstairs too. But excellent location and fantastic service from reception desk. We really enjoyed our stay!

We booked a 4 night 'winter getaway' at a great rate ($115 a night). We were very happy with our 2 storey apartment (well appointed kitchen, eating space and lounge downstairs/ bedroom, spa, vanity and toilet upstairs). The layout may not suit all (the spa is part of the bedroom and the only toilet is upstairs) but it worked for us. Our room (105) had a lovely view of the forest from both floors and being at the back of the complex meant the highway noise (an issue everywhere on Bussell Hwy) was not very noticeable.

The biggest advantage of this accommodation is its proximity to everything in the town, very close to shops and restaurants and we walked straight from our room into the adjoining rainforest in the mornings (there are lots of fantastic walking trails to take).

One word of caution, as with most accommodation the rooms share walls and for the first few nights we had noisy neighbours. As we are experienced travellers and have had issues with traffic noise when we have stayed elsewhere in MR so we had earplugs with us and used them so it wasn't an issue.

Room Tip: Rooms 102, 103, 104, 105, 122 and 123 are located furtherest from the highway and have lovely forest...

Well priced, but boring furnishings. Nothing to brag about. Location close by to town yet very quiet - you will not get disturbed. No frills bare basics for a nice getaway.
