“A wonderful relaxing weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2012

Placed at the bottom of the high street these apartments are perfect for exploring the town. We were in #107 which was set back from the road with forest views from the balcony.

Our room was two level with the bedroom upstairs and the a/c downstairs. It was very hot during our stay. The bedroom was like a sauna and the a/c was utterly useless and the ceiling fan mainly ornamental. $200+ for a room with no a/c!!. The downstairs kitchen/living area stank of cheap, fried food which made us feel sick.

Dear Guest, I am so sorry to hear of your unfavourable experience at our establishment and we want you to know that your comments are taken very seriously and greatly valued by all the team at Margarets Forest. Your comment about cooking smells has been investigated and as part of our commitment to maintain the best standard of cleanliness we have implemented a more regular checking and thorough cleaning of exhaust fans, which may have been the cause. We sincerely apologise for the discomfort you experienced and advise to let us know straight away if there is a problem with the room, as we obviously prefer the opportunity to rectify any shortfalls as soon as they arise. We vividly remember the humidity wave, as described by you, that swept over our region and while such extreme hot weather as what you experienced this past January, is uncharacteristic for the area, we acknowledge that the time for the apartments to be fitted with additional airconditioning has become crucial to maintain a comfortable temperature under all weather conditions, no matter how rare and far in between. We have already started the proces to have this rectified over the next couple of months, with other refurbishment commitments. We hope this may be of some comfort to you and others who are planning to visit soon. Many thanks, Astrid Horak

There are a lot of accommodation choices in Margaret River town and nearby. We are glad we choose Margaret Forest – it had everything we needed for a restful four night short break. Our one bedroom spa apartment was on two levels and located on the forest edge at the bottom of the complex. Before making the reservation I talked on the phone with their reception to clarify where in the complex our apartment would be located. The outlook was very peaceful and the apartment was very quiet. The reception staff were always welcoming and friendly. Request for additional towels were never a problem. The ‘wireless internet access’ was not available. We thought it may have been our apartment’s location at the edge of the complex but although we tried different locations we had not luck. The Receptionist contacted their ‘provider’ to arrange repairs.
Location was excellent – out the front gate turn right and you have the shops/restaurants of Margaret River or turn left for lovely riverside walks. The Visitors Centre is very close by, the local supermarket is well stocked, and there is a wide choice of restaurants/cafes/bars and many interesting, unique shops.
In the apartment kitchen was well equipped and self –catering was not difficult. We especially liked the large walk in robe that easily stored all our clothes and luggage. The two person spa bath had a lovely view out to the forest. The weather was cool at night but we were warm in the apartment (air conditioner). The apartments are not newly built but are well maintained. We felt the décor was a little dull but that is a personal thing.
We took a full day ‘Wine and Dine’ tour with Margaret River Tours. The tour visited seven vineyards, did chocolate and cheese tasting and was small and personal. A beautiful gourmet lunch at Voyager Estate (with it’s beautiful gardens and interesting architecture) and an afternoon food platter were included. At no time did we feel rushed as is the case with many tours. There is a huge selection of different tours available with door to door service from the tour companies.

Room Tip: Before making your reservation email or phone to ensure your apartment is not on the roadside if tra...

We spend the Christmas break (24/12-27/12/2011) in a very clean and very comfortable two bedroom apartment. I'm a bit of a clean freak & it met my standards easily. Reception staff were terrific, helpful, happy, courteous etc. Definitely returning.

Room Tip: If you're a bit prissy about traffic noise you might want to give it a miss but otherwise, I am...

Stayed over the bank holiday weekend in a one bedroom apartment.
The apartment seemed like an after thought as it was tucked behind the others right on the main road. Tiny apartment and freezing cold as no heating and a gap under the font door. Very noisy 24 hours so no quiet during the day and not a good nights sleep at night.
Not very nice inside and the spa bath was grotty. No privacy between the bedroom/toilet and shower over the bath. Would not recommend.

Room Tip: Choose somewhere else

Dear Guest, we appreciate your feedback on the noise and location of your apartment. Where possible, we generally try to place guests in an apartment away from the road, but at times of maximum occupancy (for example weekends), this is unfortunately not always possible. I am disappointed to hear the heating wasnt adequate in your apartment, as we have reverse cycle airconditioners, electric blankets and oilheaters in every apartment normally. If it is any consulation, while we cannot alter the lay out of the complex where it hugs Bussell Highway on one side, it may interest you to know that a by-pass construction is underway, which should direct truck traffic (the main source of noise complaints) away from this location in future, something we are obviously all very excited about. In the mean time, please let us know if traffic is an issue when staying with us, as we will endeavour to relocate you to a quieter location where and when possible. Thanks again for your candid review. Regards, Astrid Horak

I stayed here with a friend recently in a 2 bed apartment. It was well set up with 2 queen bedrooms downstairs and living areas upstairs. Only one bathroom downstairs with separate toilet, but a second toilet upstairs. It is a great location, where you walk one block to several different dinner options on the main street. There is a bit of road noise only really noticable in the evening, but it didn't disturb my sleep (the baby in the next room did that!!)
It is also right near walking tracks on the Margaret River which we did each morning.
I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road if you are a light sleeper.

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom 1 spa apartment. The unit was incredibly spacious and importantly clean. It was well equiped and very close to town. We stayed with my children (4/5 age group) and it provided enough space for them to play without impacting on the adults. The stairs may be an issue with very young children. There is an excellent park within walking distance heading away from town. We had no problem with tour groups picking us up from this accom. The reception was helpful and pleasant. Overall we did hear the traffic as you are close to the main road, but is was never an issue. We will use this accom again

Room Tip: Ask for a unit that is not on the road side if you are a light sleeper.
