“Happy Kids - Happy Parents”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

We decided last minute to end the kids holidays with a farmstay - really happy with our choice. The kids loved it - they have such a great experience with the animals. Feeding, hands on, pony rides and the tractor ride with the wood fire and toasting marshmallows. We had the dogs become our instant friends, stay outside our door at night. The guinea pigs enclosure was great for my youngest and for my oldest just fell in love with the Joey. The kids got wet the kids got muddy. Loved the view from our backdoor The owners and staff friendly and very accommodating. My kids cried when they left - just didn't want to leave. Would recommend this for any family wanting a farmstay. Best farmstay that I have stayed at.

We had the perfect family break here a few weekends ago, family run business with a real family feel. Our children are 15, 13, and 10 and they all loved it, with the freedom of the countryside at your back door, and only a few k's from the heart of Margaret river. The north unit was perfect for us with a separate bedroom and living area so we all had our own space , it was simple (but everything you needed was there) and very clean. I would highly recommend it an ideal family break - will be returning later in the year with friends

It was a last minute planning to a farmstay at Perth for a short break. Din have much expectation. We have been to a farmstay at Brisbane before and was expecting having nothing much to do except feeding. But I was wrong! This place is amazing!!!

Other than free roaming around a pretty sizable farm with lots animals, they offer 2 rounds of feeding each day. The kids will have a bucket each to go around the farm feeding their fav animals. There's also a tractor ride that will bring you to the huge open area behind the farm. Kids are given small boats to float siren the stream.... We took tree branches to assist those boats down the stream as fast as it could so that our boat could win the "race". Indeed an experience you would not get in city! After that, the farm owners start up a mini campfire and we have marshmallow toasting using twigs! So fun!

The farm also has a fun playground. I love it too! The playground is just beside the bbq pit. We even drove to a nearby town (mere 5min drive) to get some stuff to bbq for one of the night. Facilities is free. Just need to inform them. Kiddos have a great Tyne playing while we bbq. Only drawback is, place is dark after sunset and there's no light at bbq area. We use the headlight from our car instead.

The farmhouse is nice and comfy. Some rooms used fireplace to warm up! Cool experience!

What really makes our day are chilli, daisy and lily. The 3 ultra cute and friendly sheepdogs. My girl used to be scared if dogs but she play with then the while day! There's also 2 baby kangaroos who will stick around you the world day. They behave more like a pup than joey. Haha. My girls absolutely love those 2 Joeys to bits. The Joeys will wait for you to wake up at your door....

wow... I've been going on and on.... Overall, its such an unforgettable and unexpectedly super fun trip. And we are already planning to go back next June!

What a wonderful place to stay with your children.
They loved feeding the animals, pony ride and going on the tractor and toasting marshmallows.

The owners dog sat at our front door all night...so it felt just like home.
Always something to do, loved it 100%.
Thanks Deb for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise.

We stayed in the South unit for three nights (three adults and two children, eight and four), and the sleeping arrangements were just nice. The unit's kitchen unit was also equipped so that we could make simple dinners (be sure to pick up groceries at an IGA or similar before you arrive), including oven-baked lamb chops. Other than that, accommodation is basic, as is expected on a farm, and - as some have mentioned - hot water supply erratic. But I would say, for the rate we were given, it was value for money. The location on Caves Road is about an hour to Augusta, where we went whale-watching, and 15 to 20 minutes to Mammoth Cave. A good base to tour the area's natural wonders.

The kids loved feeding the animals at the farm, particularly the goats and rabbits, and were lucky enough to bottle feed the little lambs - Maisie and Clover. The four-year-old also had a ride on the little pony. The kids also grew particularly attached to the joeys which followed them around the farm. Undisputed highlight for the eight-year-old was collecting eggs at the hen house - he carried an egg back and had it fresh with his Maggi noodles, and said it was the best thing he ever tasted.

Debbie's a nice and patient host, and many thanks to Zoe, too, who recommended her favourite wineries to visit and accommodated the kids' requests at the farm. We'd definitely recommend it to friends with young kids going to Margaret River area.

Room Tip: We picked the South unit with reverse-cycle aircon/heater because we figured it'd be easier than...

It is really a wonderful experience for us (me, my wife and my 2 daughters) coming from a big city like Singapore to stay in the Sunflowers Farmstays - the quite and peaceful ambience, the wonderful animals: sheep, kangaroo, dogs, puppies,,, and the host the Jones!
We wake up early in the morning and wow....the spread of the grassfield in front of us!
Definitely we would like to come back and would recommend strongly to my friend!

Room Tip: room facing the big grassfiled

My 6-year old daughter cried when we leaving Sunflowers Farmstay at the end of our 3 days stay... It was such a enjoyable stay that she didn't want to leave at all!!! :)

Our family of stayed at the south unit which has 2 bedrooms, main bedroom with double bed and another bedroom with a bunk bed and single bed. There a living room with a small sofa and TV/DVD player. Small kitchen with dining area. While It was definitely no 5-star luxury, the simple accommodation is more than sufficient to make it a very comfortable stay for us. The reverse air-con was very much appreciated during the chilly mornings and evenings.

The highlight was of course the animals on the farm.... joeys, piglets, ponies, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, emu, ostrich, llamas, alpacas and many more.. not forgetting the 3 friendly border collies dogs. The children get to feed them twice a day and advantage of staying there is that the kids get to interact with the animals before the day visit crowd.

The tractor ride was pretty enjoyable as well!!! And there was further surprise during the tractor which you have find out for yourself.

It was definitely a very memorable stay for all of us and won't hesitate to return again in the future.

Room Tip: North and east units have the best views
