Owner description: Mammoth is an impressive, gothic-like cave that could easily be described as the perfect home for a caveman. Tours are self-guided with an audio headset and begin via an elevated boardwalk through towering Karri forest. As you journey through the spectacular formations lookout for the carefully lit animal bones and fossils and listen to the stories about extinct animals. Wildflowers are abundant around the precinct from September to November. Located 22km south of Margaret River.

Even though i am a MTB, i managed to enjoy this cave without too much huffing and puffing :) My dear husband liked the self-guided narrative and we both loved the 170plus step ascent up from the cave to the top, a very nice experience all in although for A$22 per adult is not cheap.

The cave was very good and interesting, although it is always hard to compare when you have been to Jenolan Caves and seen the best. I would still recommend it though as worth doing.

Paid $22 per person, and having been to many caves in different parts of the world, I can tell you that this is definitely poor value for money. Don't bother, you will be far happier paying $22 for a bottle a wine instead.

Dear Maylene K,

Thanks for providing some valuable feedback on your journey through Mammoth Cave.

With regards to our ticket prices, we try to keep our prices as low as possible so that the caves are accessible to everyone for a reasonable fee. Unlike a lot of other caves around Australia, we don't operate with government subsidies. We are a non-profit membership-based tourism organisation and we depend on ticket income to maintain the cave infrastructure and the cave precincts. Our maintenance costs are pretty high, because we work hard to guarantee a safe and rewarding experience for people visiting a natural landscape with a variety of potential hazards.

All the best for your future travels, and thanks again for letting us know what you thought about your visit.

You need to be mobile to view the entire cave but even those with limited mobility can see enough (at a reduced cost) to experience the grandeur of this cave. It was lovely to be able to go through at our own pace.

The caves are beautiful and very impressive. There are lots of steps, but they are manageable. The price is quite steep for a self guided tour, I would have preferred a real guide, as sometimes it was difficult to know where the guide was talking about ( I have been to the Caves of Drach in Mallorca as a small child and still remember the ice cream cone formation.) We did laugh at the bit about the drop bears though! Anyway, my 11 year old was impressed, but a live guide would have made it even better.
