“Don't think I'll be coming back”

Upon checking in, we had to wait 10 mins as the lady at the reception was answering all the previous guests' questions. After checking in, we were not at all impressed with our room having paid $209. As per other reviews, our room was very run down. Bathroom was old and run down. Room was big but lighting was poor. We couldn't work out how to use the kettle. We couldn't open it, but there was a hole to put water inside. We preferred to know if the kettle inside was clean or not, and since we couldn't open to see it, we forgot about having a cup of coffee. For the price, we would be happy not to return.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in room 15. We also stayed here three years ago when this hotel was known as the 'Four Seasons.'

The location is very good, being a one minute drive to the main street and being surrounded by beautiful trees. The garden and pool are also very beautiful.

The rooms are certainly country style which
may go some way to explaining why other reviewers have occasionally called the rooms 'dated'. We are 30
and while we would not decorate our city home
in this style we found our furnishings to be very comfortable and in good working order. Additionally, everything was immaculately clean and the house-keeping service was friendly and prompt.

We ate the buffet dinner once. It was, I think, just under $30 per person. If you like meat you may enjoy this buffet, but as vegetarians we really had 2 options. I would suggest dinner elsewhere if you don't eat meat but otherwise it looked pretty good. Drinks other than water, tea and coffee are paid for separately.

My only complaint is with the music. In all my many travels I have not encountered this problem: reasonably loud early morning music. Don't get me wrong: I am a really heavy sleeper, and I am not a fan of complaining unless it's due. But 8am music on New Years Day? Even to me with my good nature and ability to block out noise this was very very annoying. When the room cost $230 for that night I was a little miffed!

I would also suggest that management install the set top boxes needed to get all the new and free digital channels.

Otherwise a good stay.

While this motel is near Margaret River Town (3 min drive/10 min walk), part of the walk down to the town is in complete darkness at night/with no pavement, so unless you want a high chance of getting knocked down or drive/have a very sober night, you are literally stuck in a hotel with a restaurant and bar that closes at whatever hour it chooses (we had to go to bed at 8.30 one night!!!)

One of the staff receptionists was horribly snotty and unfriendly, like we were an inconvenience to her. But the other receptionist and restaurant staff were the opposite.

The restaurant and motel generally resemebles a hotel stuck in the 70's - in desperate need of modernisation (there is even pipped music in the rooms). Generally was clean - which was the only positive.

The website is very deceptive & makes the place look much better then it actually is! There are far better options around Margaret River & far cheaper!

We spent one night at the Australis as we were travelling on to a Conference. We booked two rooms. There was no bed side lamp, the screen fell out when I went to open the window.
The furniture was old and musty and the room looked grubby. The reception on the TV was poor, it was so overpriced just like a bad motel.

On booking in, were told we could park anywhere as there were no designated parking bays. On a guest car leaving near our room, we parked in that space & the guest told us it was his bay & he would block us in because the bay was numbered with his room number, words were exchanged & we phoned reception to report this, which we were then informed the bay numbers had been painted out but the paint was wearing out. This really should have been rectified once the paint started peeling as all the bays seemed to show some numbers, which is not very nice for guests to have to be abused by other guests through of no fault of their own.
Customer service leaves a lot to be desired, when asking for fresh milk instead of the horrible little UHT's supplied, was told we don't supply fresh milk. It was then suggested to me, ' don't use milk'. Eventually was given a cup, yes a tea cup, of fresh milk. So take your own milk if you want to make use of the complimentary tea & coffee if you don't like those horrible little UHT's!
Wanted to take a menu (which was just a photocopy) for the evening meal from the stand in reception, as there were no menu's in the rooms, & was told I could not remove & told to wait while the receptionist went through a file to find the original & then photocopied one while I waited!
No water glasses on first day of arriving, & used the two wine glasses for water. On the second day after being out for the day, had only one wine glass, with lipstick still on it, but now had two drinking glasses. Rang reception to ask for another wine glass, as by now shoes kicked off, was told we were welcome to come over to pick one up? No we asked for it to be bought to our room, after grumble about staff being busy, a staff member was sent with the wine glass.
The only plus was the buffet cooked breakfast which was good value in nice surrounds. The room we stayed in was very basic, (nothing like the pictures on the net) more in the seventies style of twin motel rooms & was dull in the day time, poorly lit at night, even with all lights turned on. One only rubbish bin, which was a tiny one in the bathroom, no rubbish bin in the room. The two tub chair seats needed re-springing.
The room we hired, was not worth the money charged & would not stay again. The customer service/friendliness except on checking in (different staff member) was quite appalling for an area where tourism is the main income for business's.
