“Best winery of day 1 Margaret River”
Review of Xanadu Winery

Xanadu Winery
Reviewed September 11, 2012

The wineries that we visited day 1 Margaret River were all pretty amazing, but the most enjoyable of them had to be Xanadu. Voyager was absolutely amazing with the gardens and decor - absolutely blew us away and the wines were fabulous, but Xanadu is the one the four of us voted as most likely to return to.

Surprisingly it was also the quietest in terms of number of visitors too. Lots of space too, so that one could wander around and look without feeling any pressure being locked into the counter area. The young man assisting us was really knowledgeable and helpful, and we agreed that the wines were best for quality and price. We loved the reds and the whites with the standouts being the 2009 Shiraz and 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (we preferred the straight cab sauv to the cab/merlot). And they were smart enough to offer 10% discount together with free delivery Australia wide for dozen lots.

I look forward to getting up close and personal with the wines when we get home!

We booked for lunch here and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicate and delicious. Our orders got a little mixed up but the staff quickly sorted out the problem and offered us a complimentary drink and some nibblies as way of an apology. Couldn't fault the service, the food or the wine. We will definitely be back.

This is a great winery for all ages. They have a playground for kids and excellent outdoor seating as well as indoor. Wonderful wines and excellent staff, very firendly.

Do restaurant managers not realize that their customers are sitting down and not running around at lunch? We ended up,asking several times for, them to turn up the heating or close the doors. Room big and a bit bleak in winter when failry empty. Food Ok nothing exciting for the, price. Wouldn't hurry back with such great competition out there.

We enjoyed an interesting lunch here. Service was a bit slow and moderate amount of serving , but good quality. Very new and we went with 'locals' to find it.
