The region is deceptive - so much bigger than you would first imagine and so many more attractions than you first thought. A visit here first is essential to plan your itinerary rather than driving aimlessly.

The Margaret River Visitor Centre is full of information, gifts, wine etc.
The staff were very helpful and gladly marked on our map the locations of the all of the locations that we wished to visit.
This should be the first stop in Margaret River

Everything that you'd expect from an information centre plus some great gifts, clothes and a wine museum. Worth popping in.

We called a the centre on the first day of our visit to the region and are glad we did. Margaret River is ideally situated almost half way between Dunsborough and Augusta in the heart of the wine making region. Depending on the reference you use there are 120 or 150 vineyards and wineries in the area. Not all are open to the public The centre has a display of some of the wineries with information on each. We wanted to try wines which were not available to us locally so this was a great help in planning our trip. For the none wine tasters there are lots of other things to do in the area and this really a great place to start. While you are their be sure to pick up a map there is one which shows all the attraction in the area, the staff will able to supply one.
