We booked a sunset and cave explorer trip not really knowing what to expect. As soon as we knew we had to put on helmets and miners lamps we knew this was going to be out of the ordinary. The Giants Cave was enormous and it really is case of once you're at the bottom then the adventure begins. Where else in the world do you get absolute darkness and absolute silence than 86 metres below ground in a cave. The climb back up involves ladders and squeezing through some very tight gaps. Our guide Drew was really good at assuring us we were going to be OK as this was a world away from caves with stairs and mood lighting! We emerged safe and sound and ecstatic at accomplishing this feat as we are not normally adrenaline junkies. We 100% recommend this but you do need to be fit and not afraid of the dark.

Our group of ten had a fabulous time with the team from Cape to Cape Explorer Tours who looked after us every step of the way. Drew picked us up from Perth and then began a 6 night tailor made holiday including 4 days walking on the C to C track, kayaking on Margaret River, caving, abseiling (for some), winery and chocolatier visits, a tour of Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and lots of laughter and fun.

In consultation with me, Alison organised our accommodation in two locations (Yallingup and Gracetown) in really great beach houses and provided us with fab breakfast foods plus everything we needed to barbeque at home 3 nights. On the other 3 nights she booked great restaurants (Caves Hotel, Must and Lamonts Fine Dining) for us and organised transfers where necessary. The only hiccup occurred when the local taxi service neglected to pick us up from Gracetown one night. However Alison was easliy contactable and sorted that out quickly for us. On our final day we had lunch at Leeuwin Estate, sitting out on the deck which was superb.

Gene and Drew were fantastic guides and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the area from flora to surfing. We also really enjoyed the extra activities they organised such as visits to obscure but fun wineries and the caving experience which was incredible. They even organised fishing rods (Alison arrived with the rods and lemons!) for the keen fishermen among us and Gene showed them how to catch herring. They actually caught enough fish for us to all have some for breakfast 2 days running!

The pre planning did require persistence as Alison is very busy and the time difference from Victoria made connecting with her hard at times. But once I got hold of her, she couldn't have been more helpful. Somehow we missed out on getting the packing list and training schedule but as it turned out it didn't really matter as we were all pretty fit and experienced. It would be worth asking for this though as I believe it is very thorough.

My hubby and I are new to Australia. We arrived last winter to Perth from California. We love the outdoors and decided to explore some more of Western Australia by hiking the Cape to Cape Track. We both are experienced hikers and backpackers having spent many trips into the Sierra Range in our home state. We are used to organising it all for ourselves but this time we decided to try something different.

When Dale discovered Cape to Cape Explorers on the Internet we were intrigued. The close proximity of the trail to roads and beach hamlets make it an ideal situation for a different kind of trail experience. Dale actually called two different companies which offer trips where they provide logistics and accommodations for you. We decided to go with the Margaret River based Cape to Cape Explorers and we are so glad we did.

We told Gene (one of the tour groups owners ) our agenda and he got back to us quickly with a plan and the fees. We wanted to hike alone, but have the company organise accommodations, and arrange for our gear and food to be waiting for us each night. It all went so smoothly! We stayed in caravan parks, and villas. All accommodations were perfect. We didn't want a fancy place (which I am sure they can arrange if you do) just a basic cabin. Each place we stayed had it's own charm. Some even had restaurants nearby so we could indulge in a nice meal out.

Gene, Jamie, Drew and Ro met us at the trailhead if we needed a ride to our accommodations. Some days we walked directly there, others we needed to be shuttled there or back in the morning. Each had a special flare for making you comfortable and each imparted knowledge to us about the area. We got geology, flora and fauna lessons. Ro told us about how special a place the region is. All of them are locals now and all have a profound love of the area and it shows. They also volunteer with the Friends of the Trail to help maintain the track. It was nice giving our business to this company.

Logistically our hikes were well thought out also. We were provided with a book that had maps, guides and itinerary for each day. We could be sure to make our pickup spots by making sure we were at different locals on the route at certain times. That made the walking stress free. We also were told of special places to linger and some local tips. Finally we were given a GPS device to use in case of an emergency. We never needed it thank goodness but it was good to know it was there.

We wholeheartedly endorse Cape to Cape Explorers and want to say Thank You!

Walking the Cape to Cape track had been on the agenda for a few years and with a recent move to Perth from the East coast we were at least a lot closer to making it a reality. Having decided we wanted to make the walk and scenery the focus ie not set up camp every night and carry heavy packs plus be our own guides, the quest than became who could help us to bring it all together. Cape to Cape Explorer Tours excelled at creating a customised, personal experience of the Cape to Cape track and the coastal villages that we will remember forever. The interactions with staff both before and during the 7 days of walking (when transfers were required between accommodation options and track) were engaging, professional, informative and enjoyable.
The Cape to Cape track is an amazing coastal walk and if you want to go the distance (or a couple of nights) on your own terms than I highly recommend getting in touch with the team at Cape to Cape Explorer Tours to create exactly the experience you are after.

We booked to do the Jewel of the Capes day trip with a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children from 10-14. The day started with a 7km walk along the cape to cape track, beautiful views throughout. Our guide was Ro and she was very knowledgeable, the kids loved learning from her about the region we were walking through. As well as the amazing landscape and views we also saw processionary caterpillars, a tiger snake, and a bearded dragon lizard. Ro managed the pace well with frequent water and snack stops to keep the kids hydrated. Lunch at Compo camp was good, then we headed through the forest to Giant's cave. personally I wasnt too sure about the caving part but it was brilliant, a small amount of crawling but nothing too difficult and the kids loved it. Altogether a great day, a lovely antidote to the winery lunches. We all really appreciated the chance to learn something about the environment we are visiting, and the kids ended the day with a sense of achievement and excitement, not just for the walking but also the cave adventure. Would recommend this to anyone with some fitness looking for a day away from the beach and vineyard!
