I have been to Vinter's Retreat before and found that it is constantly outstanding in all aspects.
The rooms are spacious, beautifly presented, ensuits in each room and very clean with no smell's except freshness. On writting my review I noticed a poor review written by 'Perthboi'
to say that I was shocked by their comments is an understatement! It leads me to believe that
they have got the wrong B & B.
If I may clear up the comments that they have made. 1. The rooms and ensuits are very spacious clean and all with very nice decor none of the rooms smell of dogs or smelly feet. The owners do not own or allow pets. I looked in all rooms before I decided which one I wanted this time. 2. The street in which the' Vitners Retreat' is in is a cul de sac and has at the most 9 houses all on large lot's. The street is very quiet, not as it has been indicated as 'any street in a Perth Suburb'. 3. The house is far from being modest! it is quite large and has area's inside and out for guest's to relax. 4. The people that own & run the b&b are not elderly. 5. The breakfast you get in the price of your stay is outstanding! All cereal is fresh with several choices including fruit and yoghurt as well as a full hot breakfast.
I have looked at all the reviews and noticed that [I would say] 99.9% of the comments give this b&b 'Outstanding to Excellent'.
To some up I have no hesitation in recommending 'The Vitners Retreat B&B' to any one looking for outstanding accomodation, Rooms are very good, great food and the host's are splendid.

It was a last minute arrangement to pop into Margaret River and we wanted somewhere quiet, comfortable and certainly not challenging. Despite the damp weather, our hosts more than made up for it with more than just their great looking rooms but most of all their availability to our every needs, including our demanding 5 year old.
Breakfast was more than what we were expecting, and the free flow of cheese platter, biscuits, milk, coffee and tea plus chocolates certainly made my wife's day.
For a quite and yet memorable stay, we would certainly recommend Jeannie and Howie. It was great yet highly affordable. It was certainly a good choice for us.

We had the misfortune of staying for a couple of nights and it was a painful experience. The name of place place Vintners Retreat is quite misleading as it gives the impression that this is a facility designed for a luxury stay for wine aficionados in the heart of the vineyards. The reality is that this is just a spare room in someone's very modest house in a street that could be in any Perth suburb.

The accommodation is very basic, quite cramped and the cheap furnishings are what you might expect if you were staying in the spare room at your grandparents house. The bedroom smelt a bit musty like dogs or smelly feet had been in the room and there was someone else's hairs on the bed linen, the toilet needed to be cleaned better than it had been and hot water seemed to be in short supply.

The elderly couple were pleasant enough but they just never stopped talking and most of what they talked about was themselves, combined with the overall feel of the place it made us quite claustrophobic.

Breakfasts were a bit like fawlty towers and the disorganisation was almost comical enough to make up for the cheap stale cereal and overcooked eggs, but no the entertainment value did not quite make up for it.

We were pleased to leave at the end of our stay and we ended up feeling like we had just had an uncomfortable stay with those elderly relatives that you find irritating at the best of times, and worst of all we paid for the privilege.

Save your money and visit your grandparents instead!

This was our third stay with Howie & Jeannie at The Vintner's Retreat and we wouldn't consider staying at any other accommodation in Margaret River! Howie & Jeannie are down to earth and very warm hosts! The welcome greeting and breakfast's are first class! The rooms are five star! The common area is very open & comforting! It's very close to the outdoor cinema. Like I said....First Class!

My husband & I were delighted with our stay at The Vintner's Retreat. Arriving earlier than expected, Howie & Jeanie made a dinner reservation for us in town and upon arrival to their home we were met with a gorgeous cheese platter and bottle of wine.
The b&b is centrally located and our room was large, warm and decorated with class.
Breakfast was decedent with everything we could have wanted. Our hosts made time to sit down with us and go through our plans for the weekend including wineries, walks and weekend markets.
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay or the road trip pack of goodies Jeanie made for us for our drive back to Perth.
On a side note, Howie is very clever with woodwork and makes various cheese boards, wine racks etc from old wine barrels which he sells at minimal cost compared to what you can buy at the galleries. Howie wont actually tell you about his hobby, so if you're interested you will need to ask.

Thank you Jeanie and Howie for the nice private place for my family of 7. The rooms are very clean. Complimentary wine and cheese upon arrival. Jeanie made us good breakfasts to our preference. Very detailed couple. They recommended some places for visiting as well. Very hospitable of them. We enjoyed our 2nights stay over there. Thank you.
