Don't stay at Harmony Forest cottages. We booked for a long weekend down in Margaret River, and it was one of our worst weekend away country experiences. The website is very misleading in our view.

Although a lovely bush setting, the cottages themselves are extremely outdated, with lino floors, and are more caravan like than cottages. The kitchen is not well-equipped. There is no tv reception (which is on the website if you read the fine print), but a paltry array of DVDs given this. The kitchen had ants on the walls and cupboards. There were midges and other insects inside the room and beds despite it being winter, so I cannot imagine how it would be in summer.

The breakfast deal is quite a distance away and does not include drinks. It is about a 15 minute drive into town. The forest setting itself is nice, but the cottage itself is not. Certainly not worth paying $300 a night, having stayed in dozens of b&bs and country cottages all across Australia.

Worst of all, when we rang to complain, or at the very least get the IPOD dock fixed, the caretaker was rude, told us to go into town and rent DVDs, and then to speak to the Manager. We contacted the Manager TWICE and left messages, but did not even receive a return phonecall. Absolutely unbelievable in this day and age of tight competition for accommodation. Not at all how I would run a business. Definitely would not recommend this place, you would be surely be disappointed as we were.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience. We are a bushland retreat and make that clear in our advertising. Unfortunately at certain times of the year weather conditions lend themselves to ant and insect migrations. This applies to the whole rural Margaret River Region. We run a regular pest control regime but in your case we understand there was still a problem.

Our cottages are clean comfy and homely. At no point do we promote ourselves as five star resort. The main attraction for all our repeat guests is the peaceful forest location, the privacy and the native Australian birds and animals.

We are a fifteen minute drive to town and our location is available via google and our website. Our location is part of the famous Boranup Forest reserve. We are ten minutes away from Redgate Beach. Our breakfast is located at the Lake Cave Café which is a ten minute scenic drive from Harmony Forest. This is a full cooked breakfast. Beverages are separate.

We are always open to feedback and most of our guests comments are extremely positive. The staff are handpicked and work hard to keep the property running at a high level. It seems there may have been some misunderstanding in what you thought you had booked and what we represent. Long weekends are higher priced and $300.00 per night is not our normal rate. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

What a beautiful setting and the accommodation was very cosy and comfortable. We didn't see a single person from the moment we arrived to our departure, 3 days later. Everything was in good working order and the spa and views were great. Will definitely be going there again.... very romantic and peaceful.

Room Tip: We stayed in Redwing (I think any of the chalets would be good) but we liked the seclusion and privacy.

My wife and i went to stay here for our 31st wedding anniversary. You drive into this property and pick up the key at a designated drop off point and then drive to where you are staying. You are very pleasantly surprised when you find your property and you are even more surprised when you get inside and find food and wine for you to have whilst you stay. It is a beautiful stay and if you really want a romantic break this is the place to go. There are cottages spread out through the forest and you would never know any one else was even there for your whole stay. It is great give it a try

Room Tip: Enjoy the great spa bath and just have a great break. Any of the lodges are great as they are all the same and beautifully set out

I spent 2 nights in one of the recently upgraded cottages. They are well appointed, fresh new modern bedding and furniture. everything you need for a relaxing getaway, yet still maintaining that beautiful cottage feel. We encountered many beautiful creatures on our stay which just adds to the experience. We ate at a nearby pub one night and the food was amazing. While I was their i was given a tour of the recently renovated lodge....now we're talking luxury...it's amazing.

Room Tip: All cottages are secluded and recently upgraded, so i think there all awesome.

If you want peace and quiet with a view of nature then this is the place to be. Little cottages spaced out between dense bush so you dont have to worry about neighbours. Spa room with windows opening up into the bush what more could you ask for. We found the cottage to be perfect for what we needed and it was comfortable and warm aswell. If you want a modern little cottage with all the modern touches dont come here. The decor is rustic which i find fits in well with the setting and having it look modern would take away of the natural bush feeling to it. Yes you do get some ants and i imagine summer would be worse but it didnt damper our weekend and in reality you are going to get them anywhere. There were brochures there for you to see whats going on in the surrounding areas, books, magazines, games, puzzles, a few movies and the stereo is a dock for your ipod aswell and the music can go into the rooms and spa room. We will be coming back and next time bringing the kids aswell as i think they would love it. I love the washing machine hidden away in the box and the washing powder provided aswell.
