Our trip to WA, from Victoria, was a last minute decision which meant that we didn’t have our accommodation pre-booked. Reviewing our options on-line we chose Forest Rise Eco Retreat because it offered privacy and tranquility in a beautiful environment, and, importantly, was rated very highly for cleanliness.
We arrived just after dusk and drove down a winding path through the bush to the Scarlet Robin Chalet, surrounded by the rustling sounds of animals in the bushes and chattering birds in the trees. The chalet had been prepared for our arrival with lights on and a CD playing with chirping birds to welcome us. The chalet was well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay perfect.
It was a special treat relaxing under starlight in the comfortable two-person spa – we love sky watching. Then we wrapped up in the thick, fluffy robes provided and headed off to bed; heaven! Major warning though, the bed is so comfy you don’t want to get up.
Morning arrived with a visiting kangaroo on the porch :)
Customer care at FRER is exemplary. When we booked online the chalet was available for two days only so we secured our booking and arranged further accommodation for the third day. Our next location didn’t meet our expectations so we decided to leave, the manager’s “good luck finding other accommodation” retort ringing in our ears. Unhappy and a little concerned now we called Kim at 7:00 pm and asked if we could stay for the night. She called back shortly afterwards to say that was ok and that John was preparing our room. This exceeds “customer service” and we thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.
We arrived at the Sacred Kingfisher chalet tired but relieved; the lights were welcoming and the birdsong beckoned us to discover the same utilities and decor as in Scarlet Robin. Mmmmm, comfy bed…
The visiting blue-tongue lizard lazing on the porch in the morning no doubt appreciated another long hot day, but for us it was a perfect time to indulge in refreshing bush showers before packing up to leave.
Before leaving, we spent an hour relaxing by the lake watching the dragonflies flitting to and fro ... very peaceful and relaxing.
If we lived in WA you would see a lot more of us however it’s unlikely that we’ll make it back before winter. We are so looking forward to staying again.
We can't recommend Forest Rise Eco Retreat highly enough. Anyone who enjoys peace, privacy and nature but is also susceptible to pampering will be in their element.
PS Bring your camera! The attached photo's show just a few of interesting wildlife that we discovered.
