Margaret River Tourist Park

We came down for half a week stay with four mates looking forward to having a great time. The staff were not friendly and did not make us feel welcome. The service was minimal and bathrooms not cleaned to standard (you have to mop your own shower with a dirty bucket of brown water). You also cannot make any noise and stay awake past 9pm. If you do you will be hit with a security bond. Do not stay at this park if you can. There are better in the area.

The staff here are very rude, believing that your are an imposition on their time. The one bed cottage we stayed in was 2 star at best. The TV screen was slightly larger than a laptop, the furniture was very cheap and absolute minimum, the microwave oven was the smallest size availabe, the curtains were threadbare, All in all, accommodation like this is an absolute disgrace to a magnificent and charming town and should be closed down immediately for the good of all who would like to prederve the high worldwide status that Margaret River curren tly enjoys.
Shame on you!

Stayed for 4 nights over easter weekend. one bedroom cottage was totally sufficient and met our needs perfectly. We walked into town regularly and used the gas grill on the property several times. We did find it odd that we had no cleaning service and were expected to wash all the dishes before checking out. Best to wash the dishes before you use them - who knows if they were properly cleaned before you!

Stayed 4 nights in a one bed cabin. Basic but everything worked. The Park is a ten minute walk to the main street. Tours pick up from the park office. Park facilities include, bbq's, pool, bike hire and guest laundry. A great place to be based for taking short trips to wineries, breweries, chocolate, cheese, olive oils and venison. Also the caves (mammoth, lake, jewel and calgardup) the BLT at Jewel cave was one of the best. Cape Leeuwin lighthouse is also an easy days return trip. The Neil McLeod Winery, Gallery & Brewery Tour is well worth the money. Sit back and enjoy an excellent host as he takes you on a relaxing journey around Margaret River

So reading the above comments we were hestient at staying at this location. However, given location and cost we thought we would give it a shot. After all you gotta have some faith, right?

So, hesitantly I approached reception asking for a two night stay at a powered camp site. The two ladies behind the counter seemed nice enough although not greatly interested in where I'd come from or where I was heading to next. It's nice to have someone take interest and show some excitement at meeting a new guest. Anyway, upon asking for some recommendations of what to see and where to go while in the area. I was offered a map and some nice places were pointed out.

The powered site itself was located in a nice shaded spot, opposite the absolution block and the space was more than big enough for our needs. Facilities were all kept clean. Kitchen and absolution blocks. Very nice spot. Lots of trees, a pool etc

The one thing I have to say that we did find particularly nice was the peace and quiet that some reviewers here dont seem to like. Not sure about you but being kept awake (as happened the night before at a different camp site)until 1am by a group of loud mouths is not what i would say contributes to a good nights sleep.

A negative experience I had was with the lady with the long black hair who is referred to in the other comments. This was at checkout. She took no interest what so ever in asking if I enjoyed my stay. No small talk and definitly no friendly smile. It was basically like "there's your 10 bucks back for the key deposit" and that was it. I found this to be very poor service. Especially as the ladies who checked me in did appear quite nice.

All in all good value, great location and quite a peaceful environment. My only take away would have been it would be nice to see some super friendly staff like we have had at other sites. It makes you feel much more welcome.

Had a booking over Easter 2011 but there was a problem with our booking. I arrived from Perth with my 3 young children and they would not let us stay because the cottage booked was too small to accommodate me and my 3 children. The staff member was rude and unhelpful and left us without accommodation in Margaret River on a fully booked Easter weekend. It was shocking treatment!
