“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2012

Stayed here in June 2012. Away from the noise and pollution in the city. This is the perfect getaway. Very well maintained and every thing here works. We cooked our dinner here and were pleasantly surprised to find salt and pepper provided. There were even 4 slices of bread in the fridge, complete with orange juice and milk. This is home away from home. Will visit again if I come to Perth.

There are 8 cottages here and mostly occupied by singaporeans when we were that for 2D1N. Very well equipped cottage we had especially the kichenette where we can cook up some dinner on our own as it's quite tough to get affordable food in margarat river. Nice bedrooms. The boys had fun putting up the wood fire stove. Very spacious. Might return for a longer stay in future. It's quite near to the town too.

If you are looking for a relaxing and quiet vacation, this place is close to perfect. We stayed in a standard 2 bedroom unit, and it clean and comfortable. We love the wood-burning stove and the jacuzzi bathtub. My two little kids enjoyed their vacation very much as well. Feeding the animals was a definitely highlight. My wife did wish that the kitchen was more updated and functional - and I believe that management is already planning to refurbish these cottages. For me though, I hope the cottages maintain their rustic charm. We would love to return someday - it really is a special place, and we will take away wonderful memories.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, avoid the studio as it is right by the main entrance.

We stayed here for 4 days in February 2012 and had a fantastic stay. We got the special deal and the owner and care taker were friendly and helpful. It was easy to book and we had everything we needed. The place was new, modern and fully furnished. It was comfortable and cosy. We were convenient located to the town centre. We got to explore the farm freely, feed the farm animals and our highlight was letting our cattle dog x kelpie have fun with the cattle in the back paddock. It was such a memorable experience and we look forward to coming back soon.

Room Tip: The bigger the better.

Was really looking forward to the farmstay , kids were all excited, but have to say, place did not entirely live up to our expectations.

Highlights :

Very serene and quiet surroundings.

The owners of the property are extremely helpful ...

Drawbacks :

Kids didn't get to spend much time with the animals. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights, the kids got to be a part of just one animal feeding session, ( which they enjoyed throughly )... The session lasts about an hour and is not everyday, the rest of the days, we were asked to pretty much fend for ourselves.

Suggestion : Wd have been nice if the kids could get onto the majestic tractor and have a ride around the farm. Also, definitely , more time with the animals would have been appreciated. I did read in the suggestion book about the 'tucking the animals in bed , at night' and wondered why you have discontinued that experience. also giving a bath etc. cd be another thing the kids would enjoy....

Cottage : was extremely well designed but much in need of a renovation. The furniture was tacky and the kitchen was almost unusable. The oven had cobwebs around it, the toaster had dead insects springing out of it .. and the dishes were dirty ... very sad.

Suggestion : A dishwasher would most certainly help . Adequate Heating in the wash rooms could be given a thought.

Had gone with a lot of expectations, very sad that it was a let down.

I said we would come back and we did...
We appreciate this place and the fact it is really easy and enjoyable.
The kids just loved it, coming from busy Honk Kong they enjoyed so much palying in the woods and getting close from the animals. For the parents it was again a very relaxing stay were we spend good quality time in family. Not the mention the good recommendation from the owner. This time we discoverd Woody Nook were the food was really fresh, the Duckstein brewery and some cool play ground for the kids, so as the Colonial brewery for the same reason. This region is great. Who knows...we probably come again in some time !

Room Tip: We were again in cottage # 2 like last year and it was perfect. The owner gave me advice to take the...

We stayed on the Farm in early March - the start of Autumn - but weather was perfect. Julien, the owner, was on hand to provide advice on local places to visit (vineyards as well as beaches) and lead the daily rounding up and feeding of the farm animals. They have a resident Kangaroo - Patsy - who is very friendly + good with kids. Only downside is that similar to the entire area, the farm is very dry and dusty with not much vegetation on the ground. Would recommend it for families as the accommodation is of a good standard and there is plenty of things to do on the farm.

Room Tip: Go for the superior chalets -they are newly built
