Enjoyed self-catering breakfast at the beautiful garden view with bird singing in the morning and BBQ in the evening. We also enjoyed morning walk in the garden and pond. The owner is very gentle and kind. The room is spacious and cozy. Close to town and wineries. If you are looking for a simple, cozy, quiet, convenient, and reasonable place at Margaret River, Marie Lodge must be the best one.

We had a spa apartment for the weekend. It was very clean and tidy and comfortable. Our host John was very nice and eager to please. We will certainly be staying there again, and will recommend it to our friends. It was lovely and quiet and very relaxing, just what you need when escaping Perth and the everyday hustle and bustle. It was close enough to town, and to the various beach and tourism attractions.

The welcome advice began before we arrived, when I booked our recent night with John. Beware the kangaroos! Indeed we did see the Roos, but thankfully, they were more interested in eating grass than jumping in front of our rentacar. Our room was a large self catering apartment with a well organised kitchen. It was nice and clean as well as well appointed. Joh, our host, shared a chat about wines, especially Rieslings. Next morning, as we headed off to see one of the nearby caves - Jewel, Lake or Mammoth Caves. John shared a great trip to visit Cape Leeuwin lit house then Jewel Cave, as it was the best of the three. If you are seeking a quiet country venue, but conveniently close to the Margaret River, then Marri Lodge is the place for you to stay.

We made a last minute booking to stay at Marri Lodge while visiting Margaret River. The room was extremely clean and spacious with lots of nice touches including tea & coffee, an electric blanket.

A lovely place to stay in Margaret River, although a little way from the main town, it was easy enough to get a taxi (approx $15). The surroundings were beautiful, a very peaceful and quiet place and John was very nice and accommodating.

Would definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend.

We had an ensuite double/twin room (queen bed+single bed) for 2 nights during summer. Location is great- within 5 min drive of the town centre- so it must be one of the best value accommodation in Margaret River (we got it for $120/night). There is a short easy drive on unpaved roads to get to the lodge. Reception was friendly and we were given a very handy map of Margaret River with the locations of attractions and their phone numbers. Check out is before 10am and all we had to do was leave the key in the door. Housekeeping's done after every 2 nights.

On entering our room, it looked good- the place was very clean and spacious. Towels were left neatly folded on our beds and soaps were provided in the bathroom. There were coffee & tea facilities with milk and a fridge. A few magazines were provided on a coffee table. The shower head was old, but did a good job. Other than one or two tiny spiders on the bed, we had no issues with bugs. Beds were clean and comfortable. The backyard view of the bush was very nice- I saw a kangaroo hop by once in the distance.

Not so good points: There's no internet, but phone reception was great so you can get on the Net that way. We didn't have a remote control for the analogue TV. The fly screen door to the patio could not be locked, so we didn't feel comfortable leaving the sliding door (which does have locks) open at night to catch the breezes. This would've helped a lot with getting better sleep because our room had no air-conditioning, only a ceiling fan. Note that this might not usually be an issue, but WA was experiencing a heat wave so it did get a bit too warm for comfort on our second night. So if in doubt, bring a portable cooler or get a room with air-cond. If it had this, I would rate our experience a 4 star. No issues with noises from other guests, but now and then, strange plumbing? clinking/thudding during the night did wake me up twice or so.

One nice surprise from staying at the out-of-the-way lodge is how beautiful the night sky looks after 10pm. We were amazed at the concentration of stars we saw out there- seems like conditions were ideal for stargazing. I tried to take some pictures, but did not do it justice.

In summary, a great place to stay in Margaret River, but maybe bring a cooler or extra fan just in case, if staying in ensuite double/twin rooms.
