An excellent display of local history and the exhibit about the 'Sydney" well worth a visit, also the 'Batavia' exhibit was loaded with information about this ship and her sad end. Well worth the time to visit.Easy to get to and park.

“A great insight into the Mid Wests Past.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Geraldtons Museum is a must for those visiting Geraldton as well as locals.
A well set out historical display housed in a very modern building with all mod cons.
From the Batavia history to the early farmers and the mining facilities around Northampton and the early history of the town to the growth of Geraldton as a modern vibrant city today.
The museum has quality staff to assist with queries and boasts a large collection of books and memrobilia for purchase.

“Reflection on Geraldton Past & Present”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

I am a regular visitor to the Geraldton annex of the WA museum. Besides the regular displays of local history, both on land and at sea, in relation to Geraldton of course, travelling exhibitions are held. I would recommend checking the web site to see what is on. Often, guest speakers come and visit Geraldton in relation to the travelling displays. These are always fantastic and give a more personal insight. I regularly take my grandchildren who enjoy the kiddies' corner, and the large aquarium. There is also an educational quiz for children to take part in. There is a special display in a separate room relating to the HMAS Sydney which I always find very moving no matter how many times I visit it. The museum is well worth a visit. Entrance is by donation.

“Great way to find out about the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

The museum isn't very big but has a number of great displays. Our favourite was the section devoted to the Batavia shipwreck which told the story of the journey and the mutiny and had on display a number of items found from the wreck. If you are planning on going on a scenic flight out to the Abrolhos islands, it's worth having a look here first to get a sense of the events that took place there. There is also a great display on the HMAS Sydney.
Our kids enjoyed the kids activities which involved getting to know the local wildlife.
