We stayed at the Billabong Homestead Motel on our way North - there is not a lot of choice out there! Our motel room was fairly clean, the shower was hot and my bed was ok, my partner had a few springs rampant in his mattress. There is no kettle in the room, so the only place to get a cuppa is in the bar/cafe. Prices for food were very high - we ate at the Roadhouse next door and had excellent T/bones for $20 each. We had our own breakfast supplies so used the small fridge and hit the road for Exmouth early. If you are a light sleeper, take earplugs, the generator is constant.

Room Tip: Make sure you are in the "newer" units.

This place had a certain reputation but is under new management and the manager, Ian and his wife, were very friendly and helpful. They've done a lot to improve the place already.

I had a motel room, which was very clean and generally comfortable with new furniture and a clean bathroom. The only downside was it's the only place I've come across with no kettle or fridge etc in the room, so not great if you want to make your own tea or breakfast etc. There was only a stool to sit on too, and no actual chairs, so it wasn't particularly comfortable for spending time in the room.

The rates were good - I've certainly had poorer accommodation at higher costs in these remote areas.

It was worth staying here just to see the wonderful swarm of birds around the billabong first thing in the morning.
