“Nice and clean”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

During our stay we tried the A1 and Indian ocean Lounge on consecutive nights.
Certainly the Indian ocean lounge has much better and cleaner atmosphere.
The Butter chicken was not as good as the A1 Indian.
What you lose in good taste you gain in cleanliness and atmosphere here compared to the A1.

Reviewed February 20, 2014

Poor food and service, ordered two completely different dishes but both were identical, it was cold and bland. They also forget our side orders.

“Down to earth, friendly manager”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

Rolled into town quite late on a Sunday and everywhere was closing or closed, including this Indian Restaurant. The manager could see I was desperate for dinner and kindly allowed an exception for prep of two after-hours curries! Thank you kindly, Jackson

“Chef has no idea”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

With out a doubt the most disappointing Indian food experience of my life. I never expect 'Aussie Indian food' to be as good as in India but am more often pleasantly surprised than not. The food at this place is not even close. Very obvious that the tomato sauce base is a tin of soup. Watery cream sauce from a jar or tin and maybe the tandoor oven was not heated up at the start of service but the naan bread looked suspiciously like it was cooked in a pan on one side and a grill on the top.
None of the flavour you would associate with Indian food.
Having had extensive experience working in restaurants, my professional opinion is that the chef is either inexperienced, poorly trained or simply lost their passion for this line of work long ago.
Always a believer in second chances I will try again in 6 months but if you don't have that luxury try....oh I don't know...maybe any other Indian restaurant on the planet.

“Ask for extra spicy”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

After trying the other two newer Indian restaurants in Bunbury recently, we went back to the Indian Ocean for comparison. We had the beef vindaloo and chicken vindaloo and asked for both 'extra spicy' -- they were EXCELLENT. Heaps of flavour and a nice hum around the mouth. We also had meat samosas as entree (the meat mix was quite dry... and it's JUST meat), Kashmiri pilau (nicely separated grains and good flavour), and potato kulcha (nice and hot and light and fluffy). All up, $70 for the two of us.

The decor is OK, and it looks like the bar at the back is closed (I don't think I ever saw anyone in it). The toilets need a thorough clean (especially the exhaust fan covers).
