Warrnambool Holiday Park and Motel
Reviewed March 3, 2013

The grounds of this well-run park are beautiful, and its close proximity to town is so convenient. The management are helpful and super friendly. We'll be sure to spend some more time here next time'round.

My husband and I recently stayed on an ensuite powered site for three nights, with our two golden retrievers. We found the resident owners friendly and the park was nicely maintained. Our ensuite was clean. The blocks for caravans and tents vary a lot in size and so it is important to specify the full outside length of the van, including the A frame and rear bumper, when making a booking, to ensure you are allocated a suitable site. The layout of the park creates some difficulty in manouvering a large van. The park generally felt quite cramped, despite not being very busy. We had intended to stay for four nights but stayed only three as there was a lot of traffic noise from the main highway, which we found disturbing as our caravan was open to and visible from the highway.

Our second consecutive Christmas holidays stay. A wonderful atmosphere around park lots of laughs and many memories we have, Lisa Steve Brenda and John your park is very beautiful and clean and the kids have a ball from the pool to the kids room, the jumping pillow and even riding around the park. We have our site which is near the main road (near the campers) and the noise is not an issue, I recommend to stay at Warrnambool holiday park whether to meet new people relax or stroll to shops and river perfect location very relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic prices

Stayed over January for a10 nites and found it a nice park to stay at. The staff were friendly and helpful and our kids enjoyed the parks pool, pillow and playground. The sites were great for vans as our site was shadying in the afternoon keeping the hot afternoon sun off the van. All the facilites were very clean and the staff offered to clean our little bathroom that was on our site half way during our stay, something we have never experienced before. We recommend the park, staff and facilities were great.

Room Tip: Book a site with your private bathroom

Thank you for your review, its great to read that you had a fun time camping at our park. I too enjoy staying on an Ensuite site - having your own bathroom is a little luxury while camping! For all our campers on Ensuite Sites that stay with us for more than 7 nights, we offer to have our team give the Ensuite a clean...its all part of the service.

This park is perfect for families. We stayed here before in a cabin, had the boat this time and they let me keep it right outside the room. The brick room we had was great for my lot. It was clean and plenty of space. A bbq just outside the room was very handy. the kids had a great time on the jumping pillow and in the pool. The office ladies were very good with things for us to do and helpful when I got locked out with the wife at the carnival. Fishing was great and the fella told me lots of places to try. Will be back again

Hi Joe, Thank you for your second review. It is always a pleasure to welcome families back to our park and judging by both of your reviews, everyone has enjoyed both holidays with us. Unfortunately the fishing wasnt the best this time round, but hopefully you will have better luck on your next summer trip, down to Warrnambool. We look forward to welcoming you back, for this years May Racing Carnival..Cheers

I want to start by saying this is the first negative review I have ever posted, things go wrong at times people are human and I ALWAYS give people the benefit of the doubt but the issues we had just came down to simple rudeness. We booked a site at this park for two weeks in January, the park is on a main road and the traffic noise at night is terrible. Several other campers around us left early due to the road noise. The facilities are pretty basic but clean and in working order, the tiles surrounding the edge of the pool are very slippery when wet and I feel they are dangerous. It is a reasonable way out of town and with small children is really not in walking distance to anything. All the staff here were very nice with the except of one man who unfortunately was one of the owners. We have a small washing machine which we have used in many camp sites and never had an issue, one day toward the end of our stay my husband spilt some water on the floor of the ensuite when filling the machine. This man saw the spill and aggressively confronted me about the fact that we were breaking the rules by using our own machine (campers are only allowed to use the coin operated machines) he went on to complain about the damage the water could be doing rotting the timber in the floor. I calmly pointed out that we hadn't been informed and therefore were unaware that we couldn't use the machine and that the ensuite is a wet area and the tiles are attached directly to the concrete floor. At the end of the day it's his park and he can make any rules he likes, we did not use our machine again during our stay, but it was the way he confronted me that was so upsetting. If he had just explained that it's not allowed and asked me not to use it then fine. When my husband went up to the office to discuss the matter further he said that he wasn't rude because he didn't raise his voice....seriously? During the conversation with my husband the guy told us we weren't welcome back...mate I'm losing sleep over that!!

Other campers who overheard our altercation told me of their issues with this same man complaining that he had not been reasonable or helpful.

I would like to be able to recommend this place, Lisa and the other staff were really wonderful and couldn't do enough to help but knowing this guy profits from anyone staying here I just can't. That and the fact that the traffic is so loud I didn't get a decent night sleep the whole two weeks.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

WboolHolidayPark, Owner at Warrnambool Holiday Park and Motel, responded to this reviewResponded February 5, 2013

Hi Georgie, We would like to address each issue you raised in your review. In regards to your washing machine, it was a larger machine than what campers generally have built into their caravans and it was without a water efficiency rating sign on it, therefore we assume it was using up to 3 times more water than the water efficient washing machines we have available to all guests in our park laundry. We have put many water saving devices in place in our park to reduce the level of drinking water being used, examples of these devices are water efficient shower heads, water saving washing machines, tap washers throughout the entire park are all changed on a 6 monthly basis or earlier if required. We also ask that guests do not use the tap water for washing of cars, boats or caravans... all these initiatives have seen a large reduction in the overall water usage throughout are park - which we are proud of...We did ask you to stop using your machine for the above reasons, plus the fact that it was reported to us by other campers that the water was flowing from your ensuite doorway each day, as the ensuites are not designed for washing machines as they do not have a designated outlet for washing machine grey water. In relation to the tiles around the pool, these are to Australian standards for wet area's plus we have signs reminding all our guests not to run around the pool, as any flooring that is wet, has the potential to be slippery. Its interesting that you raised the issue of road noise - we advertise that our park is located on the main road into Warrnambool, walking distance to the shopping centre, bus stops and Hopkins River. Your family was camping in a camper where the entire top half of the camper is made of canvas - therefore you were basically camping in a tent, which does not keep out surrounding noise. We have families that stay on that same site year after year and they have never had a problem with road noise and they too camp in tents. With our park being located up the hill from the Hopkins River, Proudfoots Restaurant and parklands, plus only a 10 minute walk to the undercover shopping centre along with our park facilities which include a Jumping Pillow, Pool, Playground and Games room it is very surprising you were unable to enjoy our facilities and our proximity to shops etc.
