We stayed here over winter on our way from the Grampians to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. The quality of this hotel is 5 star, the reception staff were very friendly, and the rooms were spotlessly clean, well designed with modern decor. Our room had sea views. Unfortunately we were limited on time, so missed taking advantage of the spa and pool. Breakfast was included in our package, it was a Continental buffet, the selection was a little limited, but overall good quality.

We will definitely be back for another weekend break.

We stayed just one night and were most impressed. Friendly staff, very good room which was spotlessly clean. The continental breakfast had everything you would expect, and lovely. While there we enjoyed a couple of visits to the Spa. which made the day's driving just a distant memory. Highly recommended.

Received very good service, friendly staff, great continental breaky, clean amenities, comfy beds after a long day on the great ocean road. Great spa facilities, but missed the use of mineral pool as was closed by the time we got back each day, never mind the heated pool was lovely and relaxing. Happy camper!

We rode our Harleys along The Great Ocean Road and stayed the night at Quality Sites Deep Blue at Warrnambool and we immediatley hit the 'WOW!' factor, the minute you step through the
door you are impressed with the place, just classy!, we were on the 3rd floor and had lovely views of the sea, the Units were just lovely, open plan and quite uniqe, we felt it was 5 star and the best place we had stayed at in the whole 2 weeks we were on the road trip, we were impressed with the complimentery wine and enjoyed it, the robes were comfortable and the condiments were good quality, very nice indeed, wished we had book 2 nights. We had our evening meal in the Restaurant downstairs and the atmosphere was laid back and relaxing with soothing music playing as we ate, the waitressess were just wonderful, friendly and the service was great and prompt, I had seafood and my husband had lamb and the meals were very nice, the full continental breakfast was the best we have ever had with a great variety and unique food and though this came with our room booking, would have paid for it if it had not as it was really value for money and very enjoyable, there was undercover parking for our Harleys that was safe and off the street, this place is a must to stay at if you are ever down that way, we certainly will stay there again.

We stayed at this resort before and we always left with a good impression. However, things have changed. We've got our room on the second floor and it was overlooking the building at the front and a sort of a "delivery area" or similar. It didn't really bother us until we've decided to go to bed. It was still ok with the TV on,but when we turned it off, we heard the noise coming from the outside. We were trying to ignore it for a while, hoping it will stop, but after an hour or so my husband finally got up to check from where it is coming from. We noticed it's coming from the building below and we thought it's actually to do with the air-conditioning. We waited a bit longer and then we realised the noise actually won't stop and called the reception at midnight to complain. I was then told that the manager will come up to check out the noise, which he did after 10 minutes or so. He said it's coming from the pool/spa pump and that the noise will go on and they can't change this. I was quite amazed that he didn't offer another room until I asked for it. On my request we were given another room which was an upgrade and really lovely, with ocean view, on the quiet side of the hotel. The rest of our stay was peaceful and stress free. The cleanliness of the room was 10/10 ! We also had a continental breakfast at the hotel each morning. On the first morning we waited to be seated for nearly 5 minutes. There were only 3 or 4 people in the dining room and we couldn't see staff anywhere so I have to go and knock on the door to see if anybody is available. Finally we were seated and went to get some breakfast. When we got back at the table, we realised that we have no spoons and serviettes on the table. So again I have to go and find staff to get what we needed. A bit later we have to go again to ask for juice and milk, staff didn't seem to be interested in checking out if there is enough of everything and if the guests are looked after. The instant coffee ( already made ) wasn't hot enough - when we added milk was nearly cold! If you want eggs and bacon you can get it for an extra $9 per person. What we were really disappointed with was FROZEN bread! I couldn't believe it, I thought this sort of thing is really bad reputation for a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms which are overlooking the pool/spa pump - it's very noisy during the night!

This hotel gets it right on so many levels.
Our late arrival was handled with ease and efficiency, and I can assure you that a friendly receptionist makes a huge difference after spending 7 hours driving from Adelaide. The room was immaculately clean, with spacious bathroom, king size bed and views out to sea.
As we were tired we ordered room service and that too arrived promptly and tasted great. The stay finished with breakfast in the restaurant and again we were impressed by the quality and quantity of fruits and cereals on the continental buffet.
All in all a great stay in a fantastic hotel.

Hotel is reasonably comfortable. Not too convenient for business (have to drive into town) but well located for leisure travel. Here are the pros and cons

Pros:
#location - Near the water front.
#Pool - The pool is of a good size and the water temperature pleasant.
#Continental Breakfast - good selection of pastry, cereal, juice, etc.
#Design of the bathroom - to make the bathroom less claustrophobic they installed a sliding door instead of a wall. This meant that the sink could be accessed from both within the bathroom and from the main part of the room. Give the tiny size of the bathroom this meant my wife and I didn't have to constantly bump into each other while getting ready in the morning. The lack of privacy however could be an issue for others.
#Food (room service) - we didn't order any but the menu items looked good and prices were reasonable.

Cons
#Bed mattress - better than the average motel but not the comfort expected of a 4.5 star hotel.
#Blanket - I cannot remember ever having a woollen blanket instead of a quilt in a 4.5 star hotel (Not as comfortable as any other 4+ Star hotels I have stayed in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart).
#Pillows - a bit on the "too soft" side ... but that may be personal preference.
#Lighting - the main part of the room is illuminated by only 2 down-lights at the bed-head, which was inadequate
#Thermal pool - the hotel boasts of having a natural thermal pool within. It is not the most inviting thermal pool in Victoria by far. My wife and I visit the Peninsular Hot Springs regularly and have been to numerous thermal pools in Japan, Canada and NZ. This particular thermal pool would rate in the bottom third in comparison. That is not to say that it was not pleasant. The price of accessing it was included in our room price (it was a package) but normally it is charged on an hourly basis as an additional extra. During our stay (2 nights) it closed at 6pm which was annoying as on most days we didn't return till after dinner.
#Amenities around the swimming and thermal pool area - The change rooms have showers with no soap or shampoo. Guests accessing the thermal pool was only asked to rinse down before using it (and not everybody do). The thermal pool is essentially one giant bath tub catering for up to 26 people. One can only imagine the quality of the water.......
#Room design - the interior of the room in a number of areas were poorly designed 1) the shower involved pulling out a smooth metal stub in order to direct the water to the shower head. Not only did we find this counter intuitive it was also not the easiest thing to do without nails (or risk of breaking nails) 2) the sink was shaped that it doesn't drain properly 3) the tap was placed so close to the edge of the sink that simple actions such as washing hands results in water being splashed onto the bench
#TV - The remote of the TV was not able to change from free to air digital TV to Pay TV. This had to be done manually at the TV (with no instructions on how to)
#Room service - 1) simple things such as tea bags were not replenished. 2) empty food trays were left in the corridor and not collected for over 6 hours (outside another suite's door).
#Water - in recent years most 4+ star hotels I have visited provide 2 bottles of water per day as complementary. This place charges $4 per bottle of Mt Franklin water. Incidentally the local supermarket charges $4 for 6 bottles.
#Problems with room access card - It took two attempts for the front desk to give us cards that opened our room door. That was two trips to the door only to find that the cards (we had 2 cards - one card each) didn't work. Not what one would expect of a 4.5 star place.

Bottom line - given the extensive accommodation options available I won't be coming back

Dear Lokky_78,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I'm so pleased you found our Indoor Heated Swimming Pool, Breakfast & other Dining options to your liking. Alot of hard work has been invested to ensure these areas of our business are of the standard one would expect in a property such as ours.

Your comments with regard to the Deep Water Baths & Day Spa have not fallen on deaf ears. We are committed to making the only Geothermal Mineral pools in Warrnambool a major tourist attraction. I am pleased to say both our Geothermal pools and Day Spa area are due for a cosmetic face lift early next year which we agree - will make a great difference to the overall look and appeal for our valued guests and tourists to Warrnambool in general.

I apologise for the issues you encountered with your room key. From time to time our keys magnetic strips fail to hold the combination for rooms once programmed and this is what caused your issues. I am none the less pleased to hear our freindly reception team were able to rectify this as quickly as possible for you.

Your comments with regard to our star rating particularly with reference to our, beds, blankets, pillows, lighting & general over all room design have been taken on board & ultimatley we respect your opinion.

We do however feel these items and your expectations of them are very subjective to personal taste. On this occasion it would seem the overall feel, atmosphere and style of the property was not to your liking rather than the properties capacity to fulfil the niche of a 4 1/2 star resort. I feel it appropriate to note that our star rating is not a self assesment. Quality Suites Deep Blue only recently re-aquired its official AAA 4 1/2 star rating and all of this on the back of criteria that were tightened resulting in many properties around the country loosing their rating. We are very proud of our rating and it is truly a reflection of all the hard work our staff and owners put into making Quality Suites Deep Blue in our opinion at least, the best place to stay in Warrnambool.

Lokky I do hope you give us the opportunity to welcome you back again in future.

Best Regards

Tim Moloney
