Tapas good but came out staggered. Two wines not available, lady constantly calling sister restaurant to find out if they had what this restaurant had run out of. Toilet area out back a junk yard dirty and nowhere to wash hands. Very strange ambience not relaxed.

We have been fans of Barcelona Cafe for some time now but after dinner last night (23 March) I don't think we'll be going back. We love the tappas & endulge ourselves to the point of gluttony but what we usually order wasn't the same which was due to smaller portions. I suspect a new chief has changed the way some dishes are prepared and served which will have changed portion size and to some degree the dish itself. Overall the food was good but not fantastic as it has been in the past. Sadly the worst was the churros, it was like donnut batter pushed through a churros machine rollled in cinnamon sugar!! First & last time I have churros like that!! Nothing like other churros I've had and quite frankly uneatable. We left most of it on the plate. The bill was more than in the past and closer examination showed sangria @ $10 a glass and $16 for the uneatable churros.
Sadly Barcelona Cafe, the trip to you just isn't worth it and we'll be looking for a new place to satisfy our craving for Spanish food.

Book a table and go with an empty stomach. Delicious Tapas menu, delicious wine and sangria.

Having tasted the real thing, this is excellent quality Spanish food.

Will go back time and time again.

Authentic tapas of which can be a rare thing to find. Love this restaurant, we visit often. Churros is excellent!
Its a shame that you are served by back packers that dont really have the skills or knowledge, but thats St Kilda, so you just grin and bear it.

The food here is great! It may be a bit pricey but i guess you'll have to go to know.. as the saying in Australia goes.. "You'll never never know, if you never never go!" This is coming from an Aussie with Spanish heritage who has lived in both countries for years.

I'll let you guys be the judge/s to see if it gives you a "bang for your buck" aka good value for money.

By the way, if you want to eat here, make sure you call first..they're always busy.
