“The best seafood I've eaten”

Love the place the prices and the atmosphere. A no frill eating place that focuses on its food. Don't miss. And the piano man at the bar is brilliant too

“Fantastic”

Cannot find words to describe the goodness of this restaurant's dishes. Have been here many times since it opened and will always return. They really know how to cook fish. YUM

“Interesting place, lovely and unexpected outdoor seating in the back garden”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

We wanted to have a nice dinner in St Kilda and the choice of restaurants in this place did not match our expectations. A lot of 'fast food' joints in the main road, all full, we wanted something a little more quiet and better quality. So we found Claypots as a suggestion. When we got there, the road in front of it was closed and there were workmen busy at the front window. We already wanted to leave when we saw a sign saying 'open despite of work'. We heard later that during the day a car had crashed into the window and destroyed it and the neighbouring cafe's front. Despite of this, business went on and we were happy to be seated in the shaded back garden. The waitress suggested a selection of tapas, which were nice, and then we ordered a flathead fish for 2. It was a big fish, and came with a good helping of vegetables. Very tasty. We also had a nice bottle of wine and overall the experience was good. It's not exactly 'fine cuisine' but a great place to share some fish or seafood and have a pleasant evening. Medium priced.

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

We visited Clay Pots based upon Trip Advisor reviews and it definitely surpassed our expectations. If you love fresh fish, this is the place! The atmosphere is low key but lively. Staff were very helpful (even shelled the prawns for us). All dishes are for sharing. The garlic prawns are a must. We had the stingray (first time) and it was delicious with a spicy carmelized Malaysian sauce. On a weekend, get there before 7:00 in order to get a seat and the best selection of fresh fish.

“Fresh and fabulous”
Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

We loved this place for a Sunday lunch. They suggested tapas to start and they picked a range for us. Great selection. We then said choose us two fish and this was also a great idea, saved us thinking. Two great flathead and snapper. Service was excellent and it was very reasonably priced. We'll be back. Jazz in the bar a bonus.
