Renting an apartment in St Kilda, I looked for restaurants within walking distance. This came up, the menu looked good and we really enjoy sharing a mix of tapas-style dishes, so off we went.
One of our better decisions!
A charming young man seated us at the bar on comfortable, high stools and we perused the menu of tasting dishes and grazing platters over a bottle of Australian "Prosecco". There was a problem immediately: every single dish sounded so tasty and inviting that we almost squabbled over what to leave out.
Chorizo and cheese croquettes were light and fluffy, pork and ginger wontons were excellent, beetroot and goats's cheese with pistachio was delicious; but the standout dish of the night was the crab, scallop and prawn tortellini with corn purée and crab bisque. Wow! And "Wow" again! I'd go back and have a quadruple portion all for myself!
This is not the place for those with hearty appetites wanting gigantic plates of food. But it's a friendly, welcoming, stylish wine-bar-style venue with some serious talent in the kitchen, lovely cocktails, a great wine list - and a real buzz on a rainy Tuesday night.
