“Well located for after work, staff look after you nicely.”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

I spent a couple of months in a few rooms here on and off - it has been around a while and some of the decor is starting to date but as a pad to hang out after a hard days work, it is very comfortable. The front desk staff are good & I never had a room that needed a bit more cleaning. Great location for the Esplanade, Fitzroy and Acland Street precincts - loads of eating and nightlife options.

Room Tip: Floor C city side - some great views across to the CBD. Otherwise it's all a bit the same.

Thank you for your kind review and continued support. We understand that the decor is in need of updating, and so we have started the refurbishments for the apartments and look forward to the new look. You may not have even noticed the refurbishments happening – the refurbishment schedule has been designed to have minimal (or no) impact on our guests. Our objective is for guests to not even notice it's happening! Refurbishments are expected to be completed in September this year.

We look forward to seeing you again soon in the near future with our updated apartments.

Kind regards,

Guest Relations Manager

This is a lovely place to stay, it's within walking distance to the waterfront as well as all the great restaurants, pubs, and shops St Kilda has to offer.. It is well located in a beautiful leafy Melbourne street. The staff were incredibly helpful, and my room was very comfortable. Rooms are fully equipped with everything you need, would definitely stay here again. Thank you Quest St Kilda Bayside..

Staff were pretty ordinary and rooms tired and pokey. Our room had a nice view of the city but was badly in need of a refurbish, the appliances should be in a museum. Great location though, central to all St Kilda has to offer. Car park access is difficult, almost dnagerous. $$ rate too high for quality of property.

Thank you for taking time to review our property. We agree that some of the rooms are looking a little tired. To that end, after much planning and anticipation, we started refurbishing our property this week! We’re very excited about it, and we look forward to many of our repeat guests returning, and new guests arriving, to see the new, fresh and modern Quest St Kilda Bayside.

I’m not sure which appliances you’re referring to that were old. We regularly replace all our kitchen appliances (the oldest appliances in the complex would be only a few years old) and many of our appliances are brand new. We’re in the process now of changing the last of our white ovens and cooktops to new stainless steel ovens and cooktops.

I’m also not sure where you found car park access difficult. Our car park is behind a locked gate, with most parking spaces undercover. To reach our overflow car park it is necessary to drive up or down a ramp to access a roof-top car park, or another undercover car park. We have never received any complaints before that it is difficult.

We take guest feedback seriously, and as we have not received any such complaints from guests before, we’re not sure which appliances you’re referring to, or where the car park access is difficult. We would welcome you contacting us directly to specifically discuss the issues so that we can attempt to rectify them for future guests.

Thank you again for your review. We’re glad you liked the location - we think it’s the best in St Kilda!

Kind regards,

Guest Relations Manager

Our second stay this year. The staff and always friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for the St Kilda beach, Lunar park, Alcorn Street eateries, Sunday market, Fitzroy Street eateries/shops and the trams into the city. It is in a quite back street opposite an imprerssive old church the streets are tree lined and wonderfull, full of a real mix of architecture and people. The rooms probably are up fir a refurbishment, but are well presented, clean and have have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Hey, your going to be out most of the time anyway, so who needs the Hilton? There is parking underneath at a smal cost, so great if your travelling, A word of warning, it is shared with next door so spaces are at a premium over the weeken. There is an overflow carpark, but found it poorly lit and the "permanently' parked car did not endow me to it late at night. Despite this would recommend for a short stay, you cannot go passed the team there, friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: You can request a top floor room with city views but for the short stay anything on level 3 or 2 is...

Thank you for your positive review about our property. We take pride in our staff. We often receive feedback, like yours, noting that our staff are always friendly and happy to help with any questions or concerns that our guests may have.

Yes, we are well positioned in a nice and quiet suburban street of St Kilda with the shops, cafes, beach and transport to the city only a short walk away.

The car park is shared with our neighbour, however most of the car parks under the Quest building are for Quest guests only and we also have upper (with moon light lighting) and lower (with ample lighting) car parks for any busy periods. The ‘permanent’ vehicle, which you mentioned, belongs to the owner of one of the privately-owned car park spaces. There are some owners who leave their cars parked for long periods of time (for various reasons, but often because a car isn’t needed to travel locally).

We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Kind regards,

Jeremy

Staff were friendly, but for $235 a night, our room was on the ground floor, out back, looking over an under-building carpark, and the room was darkened by a 10ft high wall right outside,(to block out the non-Quest/private apartments looking in); this felt dark and claustrophobic. The Quest has limited views from a few apartments; but most look onto alleyways behind the other apartment blocks. You need to pay top rate for a decent room. Still, it could be good location for a visit to Melbourne, (they are planning a refurb...); just don't get too excited about the size of the room, or expect any view.
Loved Melbourne, especially the new Ikea.
Please check first if you are entitled to frequent flyers points, as you will only qualify on full rate booked through Quest, even you have paid the full rate through a travel agent, as we did.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor or upper floors, certainly not round the back. All rooms are small, just some...

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We’re pleased you found our staff friendly. I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify a few of your other points.

Nearly all of our apartments come with a balcony and one of these balconies has a brick wall that separates two buildings. This is probably the wall that this guest is referring to. Our guests generally do not find this wall imposing, and in fact we have never had a complaint about it before (partly because the balcony of this apartment is particularly large, but also because guests appreciate the privacy that this wall provides).

I am not sure which alleyways the guest is referring to. Our apartments do not overlook any alleyways. Many of our apartments do overlook the car park, some overlook our pool, others overlook the lovely park and church across the road, and some have distant city views. We never guarantee that a guest will have views from their room, as the number of apartments with views is limited.

We allocate rooms based on availability. It is not possible to pay “top rate” to secure a “decent room”.

While the apartment that this guest occupied does have a combined bathroom and laundry, most of our two bedroom apartments do, in fact, have a separate bathroom and laundry. Our apartments do not all have the same layout.

As with any organisation, Frequent Flyer points are only available if the goods or services are purchased from the supplier. We do not allocate points for accommodation purchased from a third party.

If our guests are at all dissatisfied during their stay we encourage them to discuss this with our Guest Relations Manager or reception and we will always do our best to accommodate their needs. Unfortunately this is the first we have heard about these issues. In this case, we may have been able to move the guest to a room with a different balcony and separate bathroom and laundry.

The guest is right in that we are planning to refurbish our property mid year, which will significantly brighten and modernise all apartments. The refurbishments will include new carpets, paint, benchtops, fittings, artwork and furniture in apartments and new paint, artwork and carpet in our hallways. Our reception area will also benefit from a minor refurbishment.

We appreciate all feedback and encourage all guests to contact reception if any issues arise during their stay.

Kind regards,

Guest Relations Manager

Another great stay at Quest St.Kilda Bayside. 1 week in February. My wife and I were in touch by email with Jeremy Wilson who we knew from our visit 2 years ago and requested a room on the top floor with city views. We were not dissapointed. The room was wonderful, on the 3rd floor with clear views to the Melbourne skyline.
This is a fantastic hotel soon to be re-decorated and is in a very quiet area but close to the hustle and bustle of Acland Street and Fitzroy Street.
Already planning our next visit in 2014.

Room Tip: Keep in touch via email and rooms on the top floor with views to the city are wonderful.

At this hotel your stay gets off to a marvellous as you are greeted by Jeremy. As you walk through the front door. He is truly a hospitality super star… friendly, professional and an air of “nothing is a problem”.

He made me and my colleague feel very at home.

We also loved the hotel cat Dennis 

Our 2 room apartment was comfortable, clean and quiet. We both felt relaxed and happy… and enjoyed great sleep each night.

It is a lovely location: leafy streets, beautifully designed terrace houses and close to plenty of good shops, restaurants, gelato bars, the dangerously good Polish bakeries and the ocean.

You pay for wireless however it is fast and reliable.

Would stay here again.

Thank you for your very kind review. Jeremy is certainly a superstar when it comes to guest relations – very bubbly and happy to help with anything. In fact, he’s recently become our ‘Guest Relations Manager’ in recognition of these qualities. We’re lucky to have such a fantastic team of staff generally. They’re all very happy to help our guests in any way that they can.

Just a quick note about internet access, in case you return to our property... It’s true that there is a charge for wireless internet in the apartments, but we also have an internet terminal available free of charge for all our guests at reception.

We hope to see you again (come back and visit after our refurbishments mid year!)

Alvaro.
