Fantastic experience from start to finish. Greeted by professional front of house staff on arrival and the service standard was continued through to our departure. Nice touch to have professional staff without the pomposity that so many fine restaurants seem to allow their staff to bestow upon themselves... Was particularly impressed by the way our wait staff competently handled my daughters nut allergy, rarely do wait staff understand the importance of anaphlyaxis shock and/or relay this information to the kitchen. We enjoyed entree's of beef tartare, swordfish carpaccio and grilled scallops. The tartare was as good as any i've eaten in France, but the scallops were the clear winner, just perfect! Mains we're steak, whole baked flounder, duck breast and my kids (9 &14) had fish and chips. No complaints here, all perfect. Dessert vanilla panacotta and a bombe alaska, all pretty full by this stage.... the bombe was exceptional, exquisite layers of perfection. All up $540, 3 adults, 2 kids, 1 half bottle $45, 1 full bottle, $110 and drinks by the glass on arrival and soft drinks for the kids. Kids don't really get much discount here, but reasonable to assume that the Stokehouse don't actively target this market, that said my kids loved the glamour and experience of this venue. Hard to tip, as we were attentively hosted by 3 staff, all true professionals at their trade. Easy to be critical at these prices, but i feel no weakness was exposed and will happily return.
