“Great room, but didn't like the location”
Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

The room I stayed in has been recently renovated and was fantastic. I really couldn't fault the room and was great value for money. The main road was a bit noisy on a Friday afternoon but it soon quieted down. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed and clean. Unfortunately the coaxial
cable had been pulled out of the back and it took me half the night to discover this so that effected me watching the news. My only complaint was its location I was under the misunderstanding that the motel was near the river, which it is not so I was disappointed in that aspect, but that wast fault.

Good Friday. Our Strathalbyn coffee meet had been called off changing our weekend plans for the better. Originally we had planned to have mid-day coffee with a friend, drive to Mildura, Broken Hill, and Peterborough (SA). (Overnight in each town) Now we could head straight for Mildura.
This time via Lameroo, Ouyen, staying overnight at The River City Motel before moving on to Broken Hill.
That first leg was an interesting drive. We usually go to Mildura via Karoonda, a pretty bumpy, uninteresting way to go..
Upon arriving at the River City Motel, the warmth of the welcome by the manager confirmed we had made a good choice selecting this as our overnight stopover.
Our room was really well furnished, breakfast cereals, bread, etc. in the fridge: TV, lounge chairs, breakfast table. Spacious bathroom. Everything we could ask for.
Directly opposite The Gateway Tavern provided great meals, and alongside of that, a huge shopping centre to cater for al needs.
Early evening traffic noise caused some concern, but that noise subsided before long, and caused very little annoyance.

I stayed on my own for a night last week as I was attending a funeral in the area. Opposite the Centro Shopping Centre this motel is conveniently placed.

I stayed in the renovated Queen room which overlooked the busy road, which I wanted. Got the RACV discount so don't forget to ask. Large room with the usual tea and coffee making facilities.

The air con was a tad noisy being of the old fashioned kind but it didn't prevent this tired body from a sound sleep. Comfy bed, bit on the softer side. Breakfast was also included; cereal, juice, toast which you prepared yourself in the room.

Totally lovely place to stay and would do so again.

This was the best, and the cheapest place we stayed in our 2 week road trip holiday. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
The room was extremely comfortable, clean and presented well. The outdoor pool was clean and greatly enjoyed by us all following a hot road trip that day.
The continental breakfast was amazing. Having two children who couldn't make up their minds of what they wanted, the owner was more than happy to give us extra to choose from.
Even though the Hotel is located on a main road, noise was not an issue.
Would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay

Broken Hill South ladies golf club, recently had their annual weekend away, and we stayed here at River cIty Motel.
Jeannette and Michael went out of their way, to make sure, all 12 of us were happy and comfortable.
The rooms were spotless, very spacious and the beds were comfortable. Situated right across the road from the main shopping complex was a bonus, also the Tavern next door, was very convenient.
Our wonderful hosts, made us very welcome and comfortable, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will ALL go back again.
