There is no doubt McKenzies Falls are beautiful and a true treasure in Halls Gap. The only downside is the walk back up, which has many stairs and is a bit of a struggle, you don't need to be super fit, however its worth noting it is a tough walk

This place is STUNNING!! When you get to the water falls lol it's a bit of a trek so letting you know there are lots of steps, and be carful of water running down on the grown where you walk (you could slip) best advice wear SNEAKERS!! So you can walk in comfort because coming back up is a steep walk but all worth it!!!

This took me some time as I'm out of shape but it was well worth it. The climb down is quite nice, but it's a little strenuous getting up all the stairs to go back up, so take water and maybe even some trail mix to nibble on after a rest at the bottom.
Go early and you will be rewarded with the peacefulness of being all alone at the base of the falls. There's nothing like sitting on the rocks in the cool of the morning listening to the birds singng without any human voices there to spoil it. We arrived at approximately 7.00am and at that time there are still kangaroos grazing around the car park. (Obviously treat them with respect as they are wild animals). I wouldn't want to get there before light as you need to see well enough to get up and down the narrow steps, but being there as early after sunrise as you can is a great idea.

Had no idea what to expect but once we made it to the bottom of the steep stairs it was a wow experience. Approx 20 min walk with lots of photo opportunities along the way. It was a tough climb back up but we did meet plenty of elderly along the way....so if they could do it. Could have done with a few more seats available. Also food/drink kiosk was not open even though it was supposed to be. Lots of parking avail and clean toilets so overall definately a must in this region to see.
