Went for dinner here for New Years. There was a new year menu. We got the entree, main and dessert. I must say that the sticky date pudding i had was the best i have ever had. It was so good. Even though i was full it tasted delicious. The mains were great except of the people we were with had ordered a medium steak and it came out well done. But still a very enjoyable meal.

i was at a birthday dinner and i ordered a medium rare steak, it came out black.... i didn't want to complain seeing as though i was at a function but after getting a sore jaw from trying to chew it i decided to speak to the waitress. she seemed fine and took the steak back to the kitchen so they could try again. well what i received when she brought it back out was a dirty plate with a new piece of steak on it and nothing else, she asked me to check the steak was cooked to my liking so i cut it open and it was blue!!!! i was so annoyed that the chefs were obviously being extremely rude about the whole situation so i sent it back again and told her i no longer wanted the meal.
she didn't listen and brought out the steak i had cut open (this time cooked medium rare on a clean plate with salad) I refused to eat it.... i know what they are like in kitchens!! so i walked out hungry and $36 poorer!! yes they still made me pay!!
i would never recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!

A reasonable meal and service but nothing to rave about. Fish and meat dishes were executed well but lacked flare. Probably overpriced.

Wine list is limited.

Do not get a set next to the kitchen doorway - it is off putting looking into the pantry shelves stocked with tins.

Owners also have a hand in the Customs House - which started with a flurry but is wimpering along after 6 months.

Firstly to what is good here. The produce they use is of very high quality and cooked to perfection. We had 3 entrees and 2mains between 2 of us and these positive qualities applied to all of them. What lets it down is the flavor. Nearly all the dishes were very bland. Very safe. Very unspectacular. There is nothing wrong with the food, but it is just nothing that stands out about it, nothing memorable or exciting (and for the money it has to be that). With this said the "Gumbo" ($45 for one person) was the star of the show and the one dish where the above critisism doesn't apply - it was delicious. The service was solid. We had two waitresses attend us. One was excellent. The other was too abrupt and not at all engaged in her job. For example my dinning companion was "Gluten Fee" but I wasn't. She knew we were sharing all of the dishes. The "fish of the day" came with a lovely sounding source that wasn't gluten free BUT instead of quickly making up an alternate source for her and serving up my source on the side, they served up the fish with zero accompaniment making it (albeit beautifully cooked) dry and bland in the extreme. Considering it was a $39 course this was very disappointing and could have so easily been avoided with a little effort. Overall I didn't dislike my experience but for $175 (3entrees, 2mains, 1 bottle of wine - no other drinks, no desserts) I certainly wouldn't go back,
