Ripples isn't expensive, compared to what some of the pubs are charging (for pre made slop) these days it's a bargain. Friendly honest service, uncomplicated wine list, best views and great food! It's nice to have something on the water that is relaxed & not pretentious.

Dined here a couple of times because it is around the corner, but have been disappointed every time. Small menu, with items often sold out or unavailable. Too expensive for what you get, possibly because of its pretentions.

The building is neatly done up and well decorated. Service was quiet ,accurate and efficient. The view and setting is excellent.

The starters looked rather uninteresting, so we skipped to mains. I had duck on sweet potato mash, and that was pretty much what I got ($36). Well cooked, reasonable size serve, no herbs or spices apparent, the sauce swishing around in the dish not having much to do with anything . My wife had barramundi on risotto. I'm not a huge fan of this stacking thing, but her fish was rather nice. The risotto was a bit bland. $36 as well. We had a necessary side of runner beans and broccolini. $8.

Pudding was an orange sorbet, I liked that, a pot of meringue, and a couple of squidges of orangey stuff. Not much to it for $14

So far so average. But what really annoyed me was the wine list. Nothing under 40 bucks, we ended up with Dalwhinnie "The Hut" rose for $50, quite a markup on a $22 wine. The wine list is obtuse in its brevity, and doesn't seem to be put together in any attempt to provide reasonable value for money at the lower end.

So that was just over $150 for two mains and a shared desert, a bottle of quaffable wine and coffees. Coo. And they didn't even give us bread.
