“A delightful surprise”
Reviewed March 9, 2011

We stayed here so that we could attend the Avalon air show with our 12-year-old son and it was the only accommodation left in Geelong. We were aware that it is run by the Salvation Army and had a no-alcohol, no-smoking policy. We therefore thought we might be in for a bit of a Spartan experience. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Centre is just east of town in a quiet garden setting and has been modernised to a very good standard. Colour scheme is fresh and modern. The restaurant, where breakfast (included in the price) was served was big, open and cheerful. The service was considerate and exceptional. The decor around the centre reminded us of the (much more expensive) Voyages Sails Resort in Ayers Rock. The pool was in a lovely natural setting and the spa, heated to a very warm temperature, was so welcome after a long day at the air show. Games tables - pool table, ping pong, air hockey - provided great entertainment for our son. Although we didn't use them, the centre had a gym and conference facilities which both seemed very good. Our room had also been modernised and the bathroom was particularly nice. The room, which had a double bed and a single bed, was perhaps just a little bit too small for the three of us but would be fine for two. It would have been nice if the restaurant offered dinner and/or room service. Golf course right next door and lovely gardens in walking distance.

Stayed here recently rooms were spotless on arival and done daily to the same standard. There were little extras in our room like pool towels and emery board plus lots of the usual. Only criticism with the room was that the double bed was pushed in to the corner with little room for the person on that side to get out.

Breakfast was simple but fresh.
