This is an area that isn't seen by people who pass through. The locals know about it and the city is trying to promote it.
Lots of events are held here also.
If you can, sun rise over the bay is well worth the trip.

The waterfront is brilliant. Kids went on the helicopter ride and Harley ride. The free kids pool was a nice surprise. Kids had the most fun in the bay's enclosure where they could safely play jumping off boards etc it it patrolled by lifeguards. Eateries nice. Stunning place. You can walk the boardwalk but decided on the train tour for $6 p/person that was good. We're going back to Geelong just to spend more time at the waterfront.

Loved the green grass, shade under the palm trees, plenty of playground area for the kids. Swimming area for the kids is clean and safe. Great views of the Yacht Club mooring area and over the bay to the You Yangs.
Very close to the Botanical Gardens.
Keep an eye out for the bollards.

This is my first visit and will not be my last. I fell in love with this place. It helped too, when I stayed overnight at Geelong. My boyfriend and I arrived in time for lunch and walked along the Cunningham Pier. The wind was cooling thought the sun was shinning. We came back after dinner and walked along the other side where the Ferris wheel was. It was evening and we watched the sun set. It was so romantic too as we sat and enjoyed the view, the company and the surroundings.

What a fantastic place for a swim. There is a swimming enclosure with diving boards in the bay. There is also a swimming pool for the children right next to it which is manned by lifesavers. There are plenty of grassy areas near here that you side and admire the beauty of the bay. The only downsides are that on a hot day it is extremely crowded, you have to pay for parking and the cafe near here is extremely overpriced.
