“Echucas most charming cottages”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed at Charlotte's Cottages for two nights 29th & 30th Jun 2012. The weather was miserable, but managed on Saturday to get a few hours of sun. The town is lovely and even with the bad weather and the resulting head cold; we really enjoyed staying at the cottages whilst in Echuca. We must say for such a small town, it has lovely people and food.

Charlotte's Cottages is a clean and tidy place to stay. We believe not suitable for children, however for a couple who would like a quiet stay at a charming renovated old style cottage type building, this is the place to stay. Walking distance to the center of town is only five minutes.

The rooms are spacious, very high ceilings, large modern bathrooms and the breakfast was absolutely magnificent and plentiful. Beds very comfortable.

The hosts Neil & Jill were absolutely charming, couldn’t ask for better hosts.

The negatives … mmmm … that’s going to be hard. It can get very cold as it is an old building with twelve foot high ceilings, but that is part of the charm. The floors are creaky, but again part of the charm. If we were really picky then the rooms don’t have televisions, however have TV antenna points. Neil stated he could put a TV in the room if we wanted it. We connected our laptop and watched TV a little, only to switch it off shortly afterwards as the silence was lovely. Must admit with so much to do in the center of the town and just enjoying the tranquility of the cottages we found we really didn’t want to watch TV. There is a TV in the lounge room though if one was that desperate. Maybe the only other thing is that the gravel in the driveway can stick to shoes. So we made sure we took our shoes off in the room. If we owned the cottages we would cement or pave the driveway.

Parking is at the side-rear and can easily fit three cars as there are three rooms. Heaps of room.

It was such a lovely stay we really can’t find anything really important to complain about.

We would highly recommend Charlotte's Cottages to any couple wishing to stay at Echuca.

Booked in for 2 nights in Elizabeth's room, we enjoyed it so much we stayed for another night. Neil cooked us a great breakfast each morning, other guests were great and we spent time talking and making new friends. Easy to walk to the main street and we would reccommend Ceres which had great food and they really looked after us. Also went to the Beer Barn and the guy who runs it was very entertaining. We also went to the Gunbower Pub because we had heard about their great steak, well worth the trip

I stayed here with my boyfriend in June 2012. There are three double bedrooms available- 'Emily', 'Elizabeth' and 'Charlotte'. We stayed in Emily's room for one night and it was lovely!

The owners have taken care to fill the place with lovely personal touches such as chocolates, flowers, yummy brownies (sorry i ate a few...!!).

The cottage is in an excellent location, approximately 10 minutes walk to the shops. Perfect so you can have a few drinks and walk home, or walk to the shops for a look around.

Neil gave us the breakfast menu the night before. There were lots of choices- eggs/bacon, french toast fruit. My only suggestion would be if they could also do pancakes!! That would be delicious!

We had a great time and would definitely return!

Room Tip: We liked Emily's but one of the others has a spa- it was booked out when we were there but it mi...

I decided to take mum and dad away for his 80th birthday and we loved this place! We came from Melbourne by train and the owners were quite happy to pick us.
The rooms were cozy and the beds are very comfortable.. apparently they get a lot of feed back on the quality of the matress and I'll probably buy one myself.
The breakfast is great and theres even fresh orange juice, the best I have tasted in a long time.
If your a pokie machine lover like we are then you'll be happy to know that there are free courtesy buses that will pick you up and drop you off. We went to the Golf club and the Bowling club.. good for dinner too. This home is located close to all the attractions, we walked to NSW haha. The only negative I would have to say is that when we arrived at the house it was freezing inside! And it was a cold day.The heating was not on and it took a while for them to heat up as there are individual ones in each room. Just a little tip for the owners to make it feel more homely when we enter. Apart from that the place is great and the owners are wonderful.

We stayed ur way to a festival. We arrived late and the owners were welcoming, then left the house to ourselves and some friends who met us there. The rooms are large beautifully decorated, the bathrooms are very nice, the lounge and dining room feels homely. The breakfast was fantastic. We plan on staying here whenever we're in Echuca. Highly recommended!

We stayed in 'Charlottes Room,' it was beautiful, very elegant and homely. We were hoping for a 9am check out due to prior arrangments. We had booked our breakfast for 8:30am, however by the time we had our first bit of our breakfast and waiting for our main breakfast we found ourselves leaving at 9:15-9:30am. In future, sure we'll stay again, but we'll ensure we either plan our drive a bit later in the morning or organise breakfast earlier. It was a great place to stay, so close to shops and nice little restaurants. Down by the port is quite expensive- however found a nice fish 'n' chip shop on the main road for fairly cheap for lunch. For dinner we ate at the Indian place also down the road. Fantastic too!

Room Tip: I recommend Charlottes Room as it has a larger spa bath.
