Fantastic historical Inn, close to everything, the river was up but didn't have enough time for a paddle boat cruise. The breakfast was absolutely the best with great service.
Our room was right on the street, so I had an extra Baileys and slept like a log.
We highly recommend this place.

We had a beautiful meal close by, but their exemplary service ended abruptly when I didn't add a tip to the bill. We all work hard and long at our jobs. Get over the tipping already!!!!

The Steampacket Inn is an ideal place to stay in Echuca. It is right at the Murray River in the historic port precinct and you can walk everywhere. Rate includes a really good continental and cooked breakfast in a quaint little room in the B&B. Breakfast is served on the old world Fine English China. Just beautiful. Rooms are very clean, air conditioned and with flat screen TV.

The bed was great. It felt new. It didn't sag at all. We had a perfect night sleep.

There is new carpet throughout and it looks great and blends in with the B&B. Ensuites are small, but manageable with toilet, handbasin and a shower only. One room upatairs has a renovated bathroom in the era of the B&B and it looks really really good.

The best room seems to be the one upstairs overlooking the river - through the trees (on the corner). It is quite large.

We choose an upstairs room, as it is a heritage building with timber floors and we thought one might be able hear some noise from upstairs in the downstairs rooms. There is no lift.

Even though this B&B is in the main area of the port, it was very quiet with traffic when we stayed.

We would recommend this place. The Manager Belinda and her mother (the owner) are friendly and very very helpful.

We stayed at this boutique hotel on their midweek special package. We didn't know what to expect really as we are used to staying in modern accommodation but we were really pleasantly surprised with our experience. We traveled to Echuca by train/coach from Melbourne and the proprietor, Ray, even picked us up from the station. Our first glimpse of the hotel reassured us that we had made the right decision. Ray and Irene are very gracious and helpful hosts. We were given the vouchers etc that were part of our package and made our way to our room. Talk about old world charm! I'm putting in a picture of our room and the inn. The room had a bit of age on it but was very inviting and comfortable. It was a quiet room at night which is really important for me. And the bed was comfy. The package came with a cooked breakfast each morning in the lovely little dining room. It also included a bottle of local wine, some chocolates and ride on a paddle steamer. It also included 'dinner one night'. This was the only thing that disappointed us. The dinner was a AU$30 voucher to a very expensive restaurant Oscar W's (reviewed on this site). Good food and wine and excellent staff but just a bit overpriced for our liking. We enjoyed our paddle steamer ride down the poor old Murray River which is suffering a bit with our long Australian drought. We chose the trip where we were dropped off at a winery where we had lunch. Very pleasant - but again a bit pricey. When I say pricey, it is from the view of a retiree who likes the travel dollar to go as far as possible. Overall or experience was VERY pleasant and we would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
