“what's to like ?”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

Yes it's had some great reviews, however.. When our family visited (late November 2013) we found the food awful, We all had the traditional Vietnamese soup - shaved beef was flavorless, broth too salty, bean sprouts brown, stale and soggy, almost no fresh herbs to add, spring rolls all pastry, greasy and barely warm. The salt and pepper squid was inedible, covered in squidgy thick batter, and the rubbery squid only added to the misery. Then the cold Ballarat wind blasted in with every customer, and the crowded 'waiting area' that is non-existent but seems to occupy the total entrance area had the waiting take away throng joining us at our table. the restaurant is not set up for both eat in and take away. But maybe we went on a bad night, and other items may rate better, but I doubt it judging from the three dishes we had. And the four staff - 2 cooking - one on the phone taking orders, and one serving tables, were kept busy, but the noise and smell coming from the array of gas burners and exhaust fans were enough to drive us packing - never to return. But it's cheap, and if you are easy to please go and you may just enjoy the total experience. One final important point - they only take CASH, no EFTPOS, or cards. Sorry Mr Taxman.

“Fresh and delicious!!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

I've lived in Ballarat for a long time and I think this would be my favorite take away yet! It's fresh and great value. We've tried a few different dishes so far and have not been disappointed! Yummy dim sims and the pho is delicious! I don't normally order soups at take away places, but this was not just a soup! Highly recommend.

we decided on takeaway, serves were huge, We even had leftovers for lunch the next day, My husband had the Singapore noodle dish with seafood and I had the hokkien noodles with chicken. Service was quick and efficient. Price wise you wont find much else better value.

“Great food, great value”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We balked at paying $13.50 for a bowl of soup or $17.50 for a sandwich at the wanky Art Gallery cafe, and walked across the road to the Vietnamese Noodle Shop - turns out you can get a huge authentic Pho there for $9.50 that'll keep you nourished for three days. Indeed, all the prices for mains are slightly less than or slightly over ten dollars, so it's tremendous value for money. Having spent a fair bit of time in Vietnam, the menu and preparation seem truly authentic to me and make no compromises to Aussie tastes. Either you like Vietnamese, or you don't. A real gem.
