Description: Asahi (Rising Sun) Japanese Restaurant, Ballarat's first Japanese Restaurant to offer fresh sushi and sashimi, also brings you a magnificent array of traditional Japanese delicacies. Combining exquisite flavours with visual pleasure, our food will satisfy the fussiest of palates. In today's hurried lifestyle, dining out is a way of living for some - which calls for healthier eating options - and a luxury for others, which calls for food that pleases the eye as well as the palate. Asahi aims to exceed expectation in these areas, as well as being the perfect restaurant for vegetarians, seafood lovers, healthy eaters and those who simply love good food. We invite you to experience the peace, intimacy, warmth and friendliness that is Asahi Japanese Restaurant.

We have eaten at Asahi a number of times and the quality is always exceptional. There was a bit of a wait for the main meals but you quickly forget about that once the food actually arrives as it is fantastic. Though a little on the pricey side it is well worth the treat every now and then.

Love the food and ambience of this place, plenty of vegetarian options which keeps me coming back. Staff are always friendly. Good beverage selection and different monthly specials means there is always something new to try. Highly recommend whether you're a local or just visiting!

The food - gyoza, sushi, sashimi etc - while not adventurous was delicious, fabulous wine list - not a great night to review as their under bar refrigerator failed. Nevertheless, the staff were upbeat and did their best to recover. I would certainly return.

We got take away from here while visiting Ballarat since my whole family including my kids, love japanese. It was ok but really nothing to rave about. My sushi and sashimi was very fresh. The portion for the terriyaki main was really small and not the best terriyaki i have had. The chicken was a little dry and not enough of it. Just as well we got extra rice because there definitely wasn't enough food. To spend $80 and not be able to feed a family of 2 adults and 2 young children, is really not good enough. Definitely overpriced!!!

Delicious food, every time. It's so easy to stick with favourites (pork belly and moriawasi) yet every time I have tried something new, It's excellent. Food is simple and fresh and well priced.
The service has always been great, staff definitely know what they're talking about, making great recommendations. The atmosphere is lovely and generally quiet; surprising that it isn't busier, it's such a great restaurant
