I was looking for a nice place for my partner's birthday and was running out of time to find and book so just went for it. I am big about staying at a place with proper bathroom, so I was a bit nervous about this place as it was a rush decision. We drove and started to get really nervous as google maps sent us through gravel road. However, we arrived to a very cute hut with smoke coming out of chimney. We opened the door to a quaint, peaceful, beautifully furnished room filled with warmth and firewood smell from fireplace. The shower and toilet was clean, comfortable bed, heaps of firewood, and 5 mins away from beautiful country pub at Wallace. We had an amazing stay and still thinking bout it after weeks had passed.

Room tip: The studio was beautiful and charming

It is a 20 minute drive out of daylesford on a dirt/gravel road but in a lovely secluded location. Certainly more 'rustic' than luxury but 'the forge' was just a little of $100 for the night so luxury was not expected... It was advertised as fully self contained but the kitchen was a sink and microwave, no oven or hot plates, they did however supply an electric fry pan which was fine to cook our breakfast on.. It is a great place to stay if you want to get out of the city..

Exactly what we needed. If you need to get away from the city life - this is the perfect place! It had everything we needed - bath robes, comfy bed, dvd's, games, a/c you name it. Loved waking up to silence and going for a walk in the morning being escorted by the most friendliest dog:))) I wish we could stay there longer and will definitely be back! Short drive to Daylesford. Wallace Pub down the road was a great little find - highly recommend! THANK YOU!

Room tip: Forge is great however we will try The Studio next time:)

I recently spent a couple of nights in the forge, and it was mega rekaxing. Forget phone reception or TV if the weather doesn't agree, but why would you need it. Peaceful surroundings, and your fair share of birds of prey if you pay attention. Friendly hosts with a few tips on good eating. :)

We spent one night here in the "Forge" which is the smallest of the three cottages available. Nicely furnished in a rustic style it has everything required for a pleasant stay. The Forge has a party wall which adjoins The Studio and this was occupied the night we stayed. We found there was an annoying vibration and humming sound which gradually became louder and louder coming from the other side of the wall and we worked out it was an exhaust fan left running constantly in The Studio, it got to the point that it sounded like someone was using a power tool which never stopped. This ruined our night at The Forge as even when it was eventually turned off, we would only have a small respite until it came back on again, even in the middle of the night! A shame really as it could have been a peaceful night's stay.

Room tip: The house is more private
