As previously stated the Alfred Motor Inn is not modern and trendy but it is very comfortable. For a brief stopover it is fine. Clean and quiet. The microwave, electric kettle and toaster are appreciated. The owners are welcoming and helpful. For the price it is fine.

Room Tip: The rear units of the motor inn are the quietest.

My Husband and my young children stayed here overnight, after a last minute issue with a Motel next door we were left without a room.

Alfred hotel gave us a room with what we required at a reasonable cost. When our heating wasnt working the manager was quick to fix the problem, he was very friendly and efficient

it is a little outdated but you get what you pay for, i would stay here again if i am staying in town.

Stayed one night in June 2013. As was very cold weather, doubtful about how warm we would be (considering we had 2 young children with us this was an issue). The hydraulic heater was of no great help besides taking the chill out the air first off. However the convection heater in the room did a great job at marinating a nice warmth. At midnight I turned it off as the room was overly warm, but at 3am it was icy again so I turned it back on.
Checkin was easy, for $100 a night for a family of 4 ($10 for use of a portacot), and half price Internet, we didn't have great expectations of the quality of the room (as we didn't see a room prior to paying). However it was clean. The decor is dated, and bathroom is older style, but if that sort of thing bothers you, you can always pay more at a different motel! Linen provided also clean. Was our best option for cheap accommodation, given that we had a baby, needed 3 beds and a portacot, all needing linen, and some form of heating. If we had gone to a caravan park cabin and hired linen, we would have had to pay more.
Very reasonable, happy to have stayed and would stay again if we needed a level of simplicity and cleanliness.
No street noise from the road, as we stayed towards the rear of the building.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear if available, to minimise any street noise.

Quiet, comfortable and very clean motor inn. Old style but very comfortable beds with reasonably priced breakfast available. For a one or two night stay with just sleeping accommodation in mind it is very adequate.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the establishment are probably the quietest.

From previous reviews I knew that this hotel was not modern in it's decor. So it came as no surprise when we walked into our room and we felt like we had gone back in time to the 1980's. Decor aside the rooms are clean and spacious enough for our needs. As mentioned in another review the only sink is not in the bathroom but in the 'kitchenette' area. Not an issue as such, just a little odd. On the positive side, the room has a nice new tv and an (unexpected) microwave, and I was offered a fresh (not UHT) 300ml milk for cuppas on check in. The staff were very friendly, engaging and helpful.

Although an older style motel everything about the room was quite adequate. Check in was swift and fresh milk provided. Everything worked in the room we had (room 20) and the fridge was really cold and made iceblocks easily. Noise was not a problem and the owners were very pleasant to talk to. We are facing a number of trips down here to the hospital and would certainly stay here again.
