“beautiful historic street”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Ballarat’s beautiful historic street in the city centre, lined with gallery, shops, restaurants and hotels, all transformed into those buildings from 1800s and early 1900s. The street is very charming, suprisingly not crowded, good for a walk or stop somewhere to have coffee.

“Lovely Architecture”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Wide, lovely road. Lined with all sorts of shops, cafes and restaurants, all in exceptionally pretty buildings from centuries past. Like everything else in Ballarat, it is relaxing and represents an escape from the flurry of daily life elsewhere.

“It's history.”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

Lots of historical buildings to look at, but really only worth a wander through and a few snaps if you are a tourist.

Unfortunately, Lydiard street is lacking a bit of life.

A stroll down this street is a must. Visit the Visitor's Centre and learn about the significance of the street before you go.

“Gorgeous architecture.”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

Worth the amble down this street - if only to be awed not only by the beautiful gold-boom period buildings, but to see the ugly 1960s buildings mingling there in a period when there was a lapse of judgement about buildings that should be demolished.
