“Great staff and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

The staff were very accommodating(thanks Nicki and chef James Lethborg) as we needed to be served early and quickly, so top marks to them. Nothing was a bother to them. Food was great - mine was Ocean Trout wrapped in Filo Pastry. Nice atmosphere inside and with a courtyard and verandah outside. Would definitely return.

“A Good Friday feast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

We were staying in Launceston for a few nights dog-sitting for friends, and decided to try this restaurant on Good Friday, as it was open, and thought we would treat ourselves. I had seen the menu some weeks ago and found it to be quite interesting. We booked for 6.00 p.m. and were well looked after from the minute of our arrival. The main restaurant (the Three Steps) was closed for the evening, but the QC Brasserie, which is operated by the same owners, was open for the holiday. The decor was good and the staff (particularly Nikki) were extremely helpful and efficient. The menu was very substantial with a huge offering, more than most. We ordered a prawn roesti and a quail dish for entrees, and the slow-cooked pork belly with crispy crackling etc for the mains. The food was quick in arriving, and absolutely delicious. The only complaint regarding the food was that the poached pear with the pork dish was as hard as a rock and overpoweringly tasted of red wine. We did not eat our pear. The servings were so substantial that we couldn't finish them, which was such a shame. We certainly didn't have room for dessert. Perhaps the only criticism (apart from the pear) was that at no time were we told, nor could I see it anywhere on the menu, that there was a 10% surcharge due to the public holiday. (I was aware of this, however, as I had made enquiries prior to booking). I just think that patrons should be told about this upon entry or when booking to avoid any unpleasantness at payment time. In conclusion, the meals were very substantial, extremely tasty, waiting times were short, and all in all an exceptionally pleasant experience.

“Great place to relax, have a drink and a meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Three Steps on George. We were a group of six with a time limit to catch a flight. Nikki the waitress went out of her way to ensure our meals were presented on time and James, the chef, although under stress with our urgent order, turned out some delicious meals. The boys enjoyed the Curry and I had the Vegetarian Lasagne, all good size serves and very tasty. We look forward to our next visit to Launceston and Three Steps on George will definitely by on our schedule.

“Promising venue but disappointing meal”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

This venue has all the ambience for a special evening out, the staff were attentive but the meal was very disappointing. The chicken was served on a sweet potato mash -sounded good, but it was also accompanied with dried out roast pumpkin and carrots!! The only other veg was black cabbage. All this was served ('dumped') in a bowl. It looked very heavy and certainly lacked style and elegance. It tasted heavy, lacked anything crisp or fresh and was quite dry. My companion had a special request to accommodate his dietary requirements, and this was responded to disappointingly. A little negotiation and creativity would have been helpful. The cost of our meals were definitely 'upper end' for pub meals, but would have been okay if the meals too were 'upper end' -unfortunately they were the opposite :( We will not be back unless we hear things have changed. Hope the management can get their menus sorted and then their pricing as this venue could be a real winner if managed well.

“Hit or Miss: New chef needs to pick up his game!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

Friendly service, good atmosphere,
Food:
Kilpatrick oysters, overcooked but tasted ok, chicken santibollca sounded like it was going to be delicious however on the plate was a pile of carrots that were cooked but still hard, pile of red cabbage and a pile of mash with a pasty piece of chicken wrapped in pancetta and sage couldn't taste the sage and greens were missing of the dish, overall tasted ok but i was disappointed especially for a $30 meals, I could of cooked it at home. Quail was undercooked not much flavour, Lamb rump was preety good and a good size meal and the Caesar salad was tangy. New chef needs to pick up his game

Overall over priced for the what we had wouldn't go back
