Description: Local Food, local wine, local talent.... Stillwater's food and wine philosophy: Our food is fresh, grown locally by passionate producers who rely on the attributes of our natural environment. Our State regulations keep the modification out of our genetics, the artificial out of our hormones and the free in our ranging animals. We know grass fed, antibiotic free, natural, happy animals make better meat....even if they aren't 'super sized'. Our water is clean, sourced from Cape Grim on Tasmania's North West Coast, home of the cleanest air on the planet. Our wines flow from around the State but being located in the Tamar Valley means Stillwater is a cornerstone for the local vignerons hosting a list that showcases the highly respected local tipples. Stillwater Partners: The Stillwater owner partnership is home grown as well, raised in a community that nurtures its youth and cares about its neighbours. Stillwater Restaurant: Being fortunate enough to live and work in one of the most beautiful places on the planet is one of the bonuses for the team at Stillwater River Cafe, Restaurant and Wine Bar. Situated in the historic Ritchie's Mill at the mouth of the Cataract Gorge on the banks of the Tamar River in Launceston, Tasmania the restaurant glows with the authentic warmth only an 1830's timber building can offer. The casually elegant ambiance ensures guests feel welcome and comfortable whether enjoying a casual breakfast, corporate lunch, special dinner, a glass of wine after work or just a coffee. Comprised of a number of spaces Stillwater has a main dining room that seats guests comfortably amongst the Oregon timber beams and Kauri pine floors and the original bluestone wine cellar full of character as well as fabulous wines. On fine days the outdoor courtyard offers views overlooking the Tamar River and the Wine Bar adjacent to the entrance is a great retreat for a bar snack and cocktail. Stillwater is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch and Tuesday* through Saturday for our indulgent evening menu (*subject to winter hours), reservations are highly recommended. A vibrant centre of the local community, Stillwater has achieved many hospitality, wine and business awards over the years from local to National for all aspects of the business. Stillwater Providore: The food theme continues throughout the building with The Providore above Stillwater showcasing our fabulous local produce in a deli and food shop alongside talented local arts, craft and homewares.

Stillwater sits on a fantastic location that overlooks the water with inside and outside dining. The staff were excellent and provided us with excellent service. The coffee was great as was the food. Great value for money and a fantastic overall experience. We will definitely be returning to Stillwater again.

Dinner at Stillwater Restaurant was a highlight of our Tasmanian holiday. The food was outstanding and was backed up by excellent service. This restaurant is a class act. It may not have ended up that way as we had some confusion over our reservation but restaurant manager Simon promptly sorted it out in a very professional manner and went on throughout the evening to make sure we had a most enjoyable dining experience. Simon was also extremely helpful in providing wine suggestions which turned out to be perfect choices. I would certainly rate this as one of Tasmania's finest restaurants. If you are going to visit Launceston I strongly suggest you dine at this restaurant. We will certainly dine here again if and when next in Launceston.

Went here for dinner on Tuesday 25/02/2014. Had the most wonderful dining experience. Did the 6 course degustation menus which was amazing, as was the staff and service. The meal was finished off with what I would consider the best dessert I have ever eaten. The orange and lemon myrtle pannacotta recipe was obviously developed in heaven and when I get there I will order it every day. That of course is assuming that is where I end up. The staff are wonderful and each course was explained with them also getting back to you promptly with responses if you had questions. All I can say is thank you so very much for this gastronomic delight. We will be back, we had eaten there before but this experience was amazing.

Was here in 2011 for dinner what a great place and the atmosphere from the staff was enjoyable, had the degustation and loved all the courses even asked for an extra sorbet cleanser yum. This is up there with the best in service and munchies. Recommend you go .. Paul

We had never dined at Stillwater, so jumped in the deep end with the six course tasting menu with matching wines. It was worth every cent! Each dish was beautifully presented, accompanied with a brief explanation by our waiter. Every mouthful was delicious. By the end of the meal we were pleasantly full and extremely satisfied with the portion sizes.

The atmosphere is comfortable and informal, and we heard no traffic from the very busy road close by. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and never obtrusive.

Our entire evening was so pleasant - I very much look forward to eating there again.
