Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your comments, and we are pleased you found the property good value for money. We do provide WIFI free of charge and there are many hotspots around the hotel, the signal is usually very good thus we are disappointed that you received a weak signal. If you are able to provide your room number we can look into why this occurred. Though we do not have minibars in the rooms, the hotel has a bottleshop onsite, and a bar and bistro outlet with a broad range of opening hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a snack menu. We are glad you found the room to be well cleaned and prepared for your arrival and we shall pass that feedback on to our housekeeping team whom will be delighted.

Thank you kindly, and overall we are please you enjoyed your experience and have provided us a 4 star rating on Tripadvisor.

Kind regards,

Management

I stayed at Olde Tudor Inn for two nights in November 2013.

The Inn is part of a strip mall with a bistro, a bottle shop, a gambling hall, and a sports bar. Adjacent is a supermarket and a bank. Part of the Olde Tudor name is a series of shops, including bakeries, cafes, pharmacy and laundrette (sic).

I was in room 7. This room can sleep six, a double bed, a bunk bed and a pull-out double bed. The bed was slightly lumpy. There is a hot-water heater, a small refrigerator and a toaster. There is no air-conditioning but a huge old-fashioned heater that works well. There is a flat screen TV with the usual Australian channels. When it rains you can hear every drop.

Internet is available for FREE. That was fabulous.

You have to like rustic to like this place. With bare brick walls, very dark carpets and black linenolem floor in the bathroom it is a bit depressing. In keeping with its retro theme, the wash basin has separate hot and cold faucets. There are two sets of controls for the bathtub and showers too.

I tried the Bistro for dinner one night. The roast of the day was 'seasoned pork.' It was okay for A$14. I did not like the spices. The sports bar and gambling hall was inhabited by people I would not generally associate with.

It appears Tasmanians do not drink local wines, saying they are more expensive. I wanted a glass of white and the bar tender had to make an exception to sell me a glass.

Found the place bordering on comical - very old, very 70s, mock Tudor, decor just made me giggle. Location not great, fair way out of town, area no character at all and NO views whatsoever. Relatively cheap and nothing really wrong with it but I'd rather pay a bit extra to stay somewhere with some class/charm, and more central.

Clean, functional kitchen, comfortable bed, great shower and good heating. Some rooms are brighter than others - but overall a good choice if you want to prepare basic meals. Supermarket close by. On the down side not too many restaurant choices near by and a car is needed to get to city, eateries. I'd stay again.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

The room was dark and old, there was no microwave and the heater was hardly adequate to heat up the room (the nights were very cold here). There was one redeeming feature though: the internet / wifi connection was quite good. We stayed here for 3 nights. Since we only come back to the hotel at night to sleep, we really do not have any complaint at all.

We stay here every year for agfest due to the conjoined rooms that can open up for families. Great pricing for a basic room. One power point was broken, fan in bathroom noisy, and room door was loud/hard to open close but for price more than adequate. Beds seem small but ok. Will see you next year.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

The rooms are clean, but VERY old. The restaurant is more accurately described as a mining town cafeteria. Bath tub was stained grey from dirty water. Mould on ceiling. That being said the room price was very cheap.

Tv is modern flat screen.

Probably stay elsewhere when next in town.
