This is a lovely park in the centre of Launceston, complete with old bandstands, gardens and a surprise enclosure of monkeys for your entertainment. Worth a visit while visiting this city.

The Tamar's west bank is the more developed one and has, in my opinion, more things to experience.

Outstanding experiences include the Wetlands Centre and the Ninth Island Winery.

There are more places to see and it is a more interesting trip than up the motorway on the Tamar's east bank.

Lovely gardens, great old trees, macaque monkeys with baby, ducks on pond, playground, miniature train, conservatory full of orchids, outdoor chess, sensory garden, green lawns for sitting on- what else could you want?

We went to the city park on our last day, and what a perfect way to spend it. The weather was perfect and all the monkeys were out. We were very lucky to see a baby monkey, it was the cutest thing!!! The park has changed alot to what I remember as a child. I loved the little train ride also (well our 3 year old son did) Thanks you, we cannot wait to visit again.
