Description: Situated within the 1870s era railway workshop at Inveresk, the Railway Cafe is the perfect destination for a delicious house-made lunch. A small menu for a small cafe features a balanced range of organic, ethically produced, local and socially just ingredients. The team's desire is that you receive friendly, courteous service. Their mission is to contribute to a healthy, balanced, and sustainable life through good food and beverages. All food is prepared fresh daily, made to order, with loving attention to quality and presentation. A wide selection for the children is available, as well as many options for function catering including for children's birthday parties, cocktail functions and weddings.

Within the Inveresk QVMAG building is where you will discover some very tasty sandwiches and good coffee. I guess having followed the proprietor, Rupert Sadler, from a prominent Tamar Valley vineyard cafe to his own cafe makes me a bit of a fan of Rupe's foodie style. For very affordable menu prices you will enjoy lovely wholesome food carefully sourced and freshly prepared by Rupert and his team. The cafe location is not obvious from the car park but it's also not difficult to find. Just go inside / the QVMAG has free entry and a reception desk. There are plenty of comfortable tables and chairs as well as free use of the QVMAG bathrooms. Here's a challenge: try a "proper toastie" at the Railway Kitchen cafe and judge for yourself. Gourmet food at affordable prices is how to remember this place. There's even a free bus service that loops Launceston City and stops right outside the QVMAG main entrance. Rupe's cafe has got to be one of those local treasures that are first discovered by interstate and overseas visitors. Highly recommended.
