A beautiful drive around the Tamar valley with some fantastic scenery and gorgeous wines. A definite on the TO DO list preferably without children. Make the most of the 12 wine collection. Purchase 12 different bottles of wine throughout your trip and the last winery will arrange for the box to be sent home. $32 for 12 bottles of wine to be sent from Tassie to Perth.

There's plenty to do over a week-end:
1) Visit wineries :
Velo Vineyard 755 West Tamar Hwy Legana – 10 min drive north – 10am – 5pm
The Jansz Wine Room 1216B Pipers Brook rd, Pipers Brook (East of Tamar Valley) 10am-4.30pm
Pipers Brook 1216 Pipers Brook rd Pipers Brook (East of Tamar Valley) – 10am – 5pm
2) Lunches: at Velo (the restaurant was opening on the day we went - fabulous terrace) or Pipers Brook for its café (serving local produces)
3) Bridestowe Estate Lavender farm 296 Gillepsies rd Nabowla (another one in Rowella but not worth it)
4) Just above Velo Vineyard: Grindelwald Swiss village (stop there for a coffee) – nice lookout
5) Hillwood Berry Farm 105 Hillwood rd Hillwood (East of Tamar Valley further south from the wineries)
6) Beaconsfield (West of TV) – haven’t tried their mining heritage museum
Note: Georgetown : only worth the visit for the Peppers hotel and restaurant - not much to do/see otherwise

Went on a bus tour of the Tamar Valley, really enjoyed the green scenery, and even went to Velo Wines, bought their popular Pinot Gris wine bottle. A lot of history too so I've been told, and very peaceful surrounding.

There are some great vinyards. We recently road our bikes along the lower roads which are so biking friendly and ended up at Goaty Hill Vineyard. The platters there are huge and well priced with a great view. The wines are popular.
