Booked on net for a king room with balcony, was given keys went to room which was already occupied!!!!!

Returned to desk with many jokes being said but no genuine apology. After looking furiously for a room for 10 minutes they said they had no more kings so had found a queen.... This was ok but when I asked for them to refund me the difference the woman in charge popped her head up and declared it an upgraded room! I said I'm not sure I've stayed anywhere that would even suggest a queen was better then a king especially looking over the guest carpark! Still no real apology or refund or offer of anything to compensate, so I'd advise to try out the two choices of similar style accommodation next door!

This place is now call Hotel Launceston and it is urgent need of an update but in saying that the renovations are currently underway - it's not bad, just dated.
There is heaps of parking which is fantastic and it's a simple 5 minute (or less) walk to the CBD.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is very basic (prodcuts are in a wall dispenser and not induvidual) but the shower and water pressure excellent!
THe best part about the stay is staff - never have I had such a warm welcome and they followed up on everything they offered to.

The only advice is that this hotel is on a few levels (Launceston is full of hills!) and the lift to does not go to all floors - if you have difficulty with stairs, then mention this at the time of reservation to secure a room that is accessable by the lift.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Amazing value for what we paid on wotif. What a joy to stay in a room overlooking Launceston's City Park. The staff are very helpful and informative. The hotel has completed renovations of its bar and restaurant facilities. They look amazing. Beers and a few games of pool was most enjoyable and my morning coffee was top notch!!

I purchased a refurbished room, it was clean and tidy, staff were nice and friendly, always helpful, the hotel is within walking distance of the whole City, great location on the park. New breakfast menu was great, I liked the food. Hotel was very busy which was a great sign when staying. The new Titanium Bar and Bistro is great. Nice place to socialize. Keep up the great work guys... Ill be back again. Thankyou.

Currently sitting in the titanium bar for breakfast with a group of 14. They knew we were coming and the breakfast and service is terrible.
The food is cold, small serves, still waiting for coffees, they ran out of toast!!! Poached eggs were overcooked, baked beans were dried up on the plate when they arrived, scrambled eggs were cold and watery.... the list goes on. The waitress mixed up the orders, people didn't get what they ordered.

This hotel has been relaunched and they should be making a big effort to get people through the door. We regularly have breakfast functions as we are shift workers and at the end of night shift go out as a group - we will not be back and we will not be recommending this to anyone.

One of our group was served a mini croissant on a side plate as a "main" breakfast. She's sitting here still hungry and stealing crap food on other people's plates.

We will be avoiding this hotel at all costs. In fact we will be warning people against it. Totally and utterly awful.

Now we're going to have to go somewhere and actually find something we can eat.

We booked for 10 nights - Big mistake- While it is under new management who have made some major improvements to the dining room and Titanium Bar - the rooms themselves are pretty poor. Okay for a cheap budget hotel for one night maybe - having had 5 owners recently - and undergoing renovations and upgrades - there are still rooms that seem to be from the late 60's/70's that are being made available. The double bed was from the Hobbit bed factory - and like all "old" hotel room beds- hads a U shape so everything rolls into the middle. The rooms at the front of the hotel are noisy despite double glazing which makes the room hot- The a/c barely cools it down so its better to open the double glazed sliding windows to let the air in - but this makes it noisier with yobbos on the balconys at the adjoining hotels yelling and abusing every passerby as a nightly ritual. If you want to sleep in after 6am forget it as the street gets noisy from 5.45am! The bathroom was old and tired and now -after reading another review - I know why the wash basin was so low it reached as highas my knees - it was a wheelchair room! OMG- The Wifi did not work in my room - not their fault but their provider ToMiZone - tossers - ! Had to go to the bar or restaurant to get a signal. The food was ok apart from chicken schnitzel that was burnt- and the waitress had the cheek to say it was just "puffed" up - It was blacker than a coalminers armpit. The breakfast were ample although we only got it one day as the gas had gone off the next! We gave up and bought supplies at Coles down the road. Much cheaper .
I do believe that once the new owners get the rooms upgraded it will be better - they are positive and they are in the hotel industry so know what is required to fix this place up .
The loaction is pretty good- 2 pubs within 100 meteres or so walking distance and right opposite the fantastic launceston Park and close enough to the city centre and the Seaport - all 15 minutes stroll/walk away. If you do book here - Suggest getting a room at the back of the hotel away from the noise street. Car parking is ample but the car parking is on a steep slope so be carteful if nyou have a hire car . !

Room Tip: Back of the hotel if you want to sleep!

Recently stayed 1night for a function at the venue.

Function: friendly attentive staff, decent room, decent food but the mains were going cold perhaps due to the group size.

Room: not renovated 80/90s style room, very hard bed, reasonably clean, some street noise.

Not the worst I've stayed in by any means but until it's renos are complete I wouldn't be able to rate it above 3/5.
