Interesting stay in a historic building. It was clean and neat. We stayed on the 3rd floor with 2 outside windows. We booked thru Booking.com and asked for a double/twin. Unfortunately it was 2 twin beds and they had no other room. Additionally there is no air conditioning and it was unusually hot during our stay. We ate breakfast at the hotel the 1st morning and it cost $40 for 2 and it was not a fancy meal. Internet service is not included. There were a few TV channels but not a big variety. We paid $115 per night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking over the river.

Stayed in one of the two bedroom units, had three adults staying the one night. Only complaint would be that the pillows were rather hard, I prefer soft pillows. The room had a lounge down stairs, and the bedrooms were upstairs with the bathroom half way near the entrance. The stairs were obviously weird as they creaked loudly when trodden on. Plenty of off street parking available, with decent sized car parks and room for larger vans if required. Wasn really walking distance from the city though. Good value otherwise.

We just stayed the one night in a room on the ground floor. The room was clean and comfortable, we had room to move and it contained everything we needed.

I loved the old style of the place and the fact that various parts of the old building have been kept - very cute and quaint!

I have read that some people disliked the road noise, it did not bother me or my husband, and it is to be expected when you stay in a city location.

Would recommend as the location appears to be central and pricing was quite good also.

Try the restaurant on the site - fantastic food, great service and reasonable prices!

Room Tip: Go further up the back if you are staying in the motel section.

Basic rooms but are clean and quiet. The beds are comfortable and it had every thing needed. Good value.

Room Tip: Its on a busy road but the walls are thick stone so its very quiet.

Stayed for 3 nights after walking the Overland Track. Booked without reading the reviews on this site and disagree with the negativity. Made very welcome at receptin even though we didn't lok the best after 8 days trekking. Got a great deal through Wotif, only a few dollars dearer than the backpackers. Nice clean room, friendly and obliging housekeeping staff, handy to all amenities. Would stay again. Great room directly above reception.

It's central, cheap and the bathroom is recently renovated so quite nice. However it does get very noisy if you leave the window open - which is the only option on a hot summer night as they only have fans and no air cons.

Stay in Penny Royal Historic house is what I am looking for. Looking at other comments and booked 2 nights there. The apartment hotel is not in the main building and situated 5 mins walk from the reception. The penny royal is gorgeous outside. Car can park in front of the house. We need to take our luggage to the fist floor and feel exhausted cause there is no lift. When we opened the door, the apartment is really HOT and there is only one small fan to ventilate the air inside. Dur to the hot summer season in end of Jan and we couldn't sleep due to the heat trapped in the flat. The room is not very comfort and a bit ageing. The good thing is the lounge is big and we can sit down and have dinner together with other friends. In general, the apartment hotel is fine for short stay with family and friends.
