“Romantic but Kitch and needs a makeover”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2010

We had the Camelot cottage. The bathroom especially the spa was great. The spa was very deep and large with air jets in the floor except that they blew cold air as it didn't have a heat pump. The bedroom was a bit of a problem as the long side of the bed was against the wall so one person had to crawl over the other to get in and out. Due to it being a 4 poster bed you also could not get out of the end of the bed.
The continental breakfast was average. We stayed 4 nights and though the breakfast was "refreshed" on the second day, this meant that only the crossiants we had eaten were replaced. The bread was not replaced with fresh bread.
The cottage was not serviced for the 4 days we were there, not even clean towels or a vacumn. The hosts would have known when were not in as our vehicle was visible from the reception when we were there. The living area was quite cramped with the TV on the kitchen bench. Even with the blinds and curtains open it was quite dark.
It was in a good location as it was in walking distance to the CBD and it was quiet.
Parking was a little tight, only 2 medium size cars would fit next to each in the parking area that was shared with another cottage.
There was an outdoor courtyard but it wasn't very prviate or inviting.

We are so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay and it didn't exceed your expectations. You will be pleased to know that we have responded to your grievences by: changing the position of the bed; taking more care in attending to the servicing of the cottages; buying a new TV and placing it in a different position; replacing the kitchen benchtop; upgrading the sofa and material around the bed; and placing a gorgeous new rug on the floor. We are serious about responding to all comments and want our guests to go away feeling satisfied and well treated.

we'd heard about these themed rooms, but chose to stay elsewhere...I have no idea why, because boxing day we stayed in the Boudoir, and it would have to be one of the most romantic beautiful rooms I have ever seen.. they cater for everything, even down to cards and the naughty dice( you'll have to stay to see what I mean) the lavender bath products were relaxing and different to other places.. the mini bar is one of the cheapeast Ive ever come across.I love the fact that everything is in one room (except the loo, that's seperate) I'd definately come again, infact I liked it that much I booked again a few days later for new years eve, we got the Camelot room, the bamboo mat was a bit off putting and smelly but u get used to that, seperate bathroom and bedroom, beautiful gold silky material lines the walls and ceiling in bedroom, once again this room also caters for everything. this room would have one of the BEST SPAS ever, deep corner & heaps of jets. the staff are great so are the pets, out of 10, this place rates 11.. :) :) :)

  • Liked — deep corner spa's, cheap mini bar, everything
  • Disliked — a little moan - the blinds dont go right to the bottom of window in camelot bathroom, but fixed that with towels haha

Well I thought Alices Cottages were just fantastic !My husband and I got married in the gardens there as part of their Aphrodite wedding package. It was lovely. We stayed in Aphrodites cottage which was huge ....a beautiful bedroom with hand painted cherubs on the ceiling, lovely kitchen with breakfast room and dining room. There was also a large sitting room complete with piano. But the best of all was the bathroom...it had and enormous shell like double spa bath ....bliss !It really was a very romantic cottage and extremely reasonable in price.
They also have a number of other themed cottages.....the couple who run the place are really friendly ....they even acted as witnesses for our ceremony !If you are looking for a romantic break in a beautiful cottage then this is the place .....if you do visit Launceston then you MUST go to Quigleys...best meal I've ever had...Enjoy
