Go by car...too far to walk. The cableway is a pleasant slow trip across the gorge and there are several walking paths but is is a pleasant place to stroll around for a few hours. We visited in Autumn when the leaf colours were good but we can imagine the spring flowers would be spectacular.

I did the full lap on a sunny day. Took a bit over an hour. I wish I had the time to hike further. The high side is a bit of a climb but worth it to see the wildlife.

Cannot believe such a wonderful treasure exists on the door step of the city. Came in via the zig zag track (not for the unfit!). Also completed the additional walk down to the Duck Reach suspension bridge. Wasn't sure about parking so parked over by the Tamar River Cruises site - 4 hours for free and a pleasant 20 minute stroll via a well signposted track.

Went to the Gorge for a look and enjoyed it greatly. The chair lift is a little daunting at first but you will enjoy it and a great view of the area. The price was $10 one way or $15 return which was not bad value, very nice kept grounds and during the summer there is a pool which is fenced off and has a lifeguard in attendance.
The meals were a little pricey but nice and great view over the area I would expect if you like to walk around it will take you about an hour, make sure you go across the bridge and enjoy the view.

We thought it would be nice here but didnt realise we would nearly spend a whole day here. It was just peaceful and so close to the main part of Launceston. We enjoyed a lunch at the cafe, done the chair lift as well as walked around a bit.

You probably only need about 1/2 a day here, but if you just want to relax and take it is its a great place to do just that.
