We took a retun chair lift ride across this majestic gorge, ( which was a little worrying, given that the safety arm on the chair, is not locked and sits loosley across your lap), all well on our crossing to walk around the reserve, which was surrounded by rugged cliffs and it's valley but lush greenery, tall trees and ferns, and a flowing estuary, that pools up to provide a swimming lagoon.
The grounds are home to an abundant wildlife, stunning lyrebirds, wallabies, blue fairy wrens, ect.
It has a large rotunda, barbeque, cafe / restaurants for refreshments and Devonshire Teas.
Cataract Gorge is close to town, and easily accessible for visitors. It is well worth the visit.

Very nice place to visit, great swimming pool, walks and the chair lift.
Parking can be an issue in popular times though.

The Cataract Gorge is very easy to reach and makes a good outing for all ages. The chairlift is nothing special and expensive ($15 return or $12 single). Better off exploring on foot. The suspension bridge is good fun and there's a couple of lookouts within 10-15 minutes walk. The Cataract Gorge was quiet on the day we visited but I can imagine that it would look a lot more spectacular if more water was flowing.
