This hotel is in serious need of updating. It appears that maybe a section of the hotel has been or is being updated, as there are pictures both on the net and in the elevators of rooms that appear much more modern than the room we stayed in.
It was like stepping back in time walking into our room. Old fashioned "wireless" in the bed side table. Antique furniture. Portable a/c unit ducted out through the wall. Bathroom fittings showing obvious wear and tear. Leaking shower. cracked tiles. Shower over bath.
Location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. Except if you arrive on Sunday evening as everything in Launceston is closed on Sunday, so you are in close proximity to a goust town.
Very nice old building.
